Effect of the Sizing Removal Methods of Fiber Surface on the Mechanical Performance of Basalt Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

open access: yesFibers
In this study, comprehensive analyses were used to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of basalt fibers, employing a variety of instruments. Additionally, heat treatment and solvent treatment methods were used to eliminate the sizing present on

Lithic analysis in African archaeology: Advances and key themes

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Stone artifacts (lithics) preserve for extended periods; thus they are key evidence for probing the evolution of human technological behaviors. Africa boasts the oldest record of stone artifacts, spanning 3.3 Ma, rare instances of ethnographic stone tool‐making, and stone tool archives from diverse ecological settings, making it an anchor for ...

The effect of early diagenetic processes on the quantification of fossil micrometeorite abundance and flux in the geological record

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Fossil micrometeorites (MMs) recovered from lithified sedimentary rocks, particularly iron‐rich (I‐type) cosmic spherules (CSs) provide valuable insights into past dust‐forming events. Their abundances, when combined with estimates of local sedimentation rates can be used to reconstruct the flux of extraterrestrial dust.

An Experimental Study on the Compressibility of Clays Reinforced with Basalt Fiber

open access: yesFirat University Journal of Experimental and Computational Engineering
The use of basalt fiber has become quite common in soil reinforcement works, which emerged as an alternative to traditional soil improvement methods and are carried out using different types of fibers.

Contrasting stress fields on correlating margins of the South Atlantic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The “passiveness” of passive continental margins across the globe is currently under debate since several studies have shown that these margins may experience a variety of stress states and undergo significant vertical movement post-breakup.

Corrosion Behaviour of Short Basalt Fiber Reinforced with Al7075 Metal Matrix Composites in Sodium Chloride Alkaline Medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of the research work was to investigate the corrosion behaviour of basalt short fiber reinforced aluminum metal matrix composites (MMCs) in alkaline solution using weight loss method. The Al/basalt MMCs contains basalt short fiber from 2.5 to 10 %

Gravitation Physics at BGPL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report progress on a program of gravitational physics experiments using cryogenic torsion pendula undergoing large-amplitude torsion oscillation. This program includes tests of the gravitational inverse square law and of the weak equivalence principle.

Mechanical behavior of basalt fibers in a basalt-UP composite

open access: yesProcedia Structural Integrity, 2016
AbstractWith the increasing interest in sustainable solutions in material design in the last decade, research on natural materials (animal, vegetal or mineral) has increased at a rapid pace. Of these materials, Basalt Fibers for composite construction provide an interesting set of mechanical properties, equal or above to those of Glass Fibers, with ...

Seismic Enhancement of Masonry‐Infilled Substandard Reinforced Concrete Frames Using Lightweight Steel Exoskeleton

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 3, Page 603-623, March 2026.
ABSTRACT A significant portion of existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures in seismically active regions was constructed prior to the adoption of modern seismic design standards, leaving them highly susceptible to earthquake‐induced damage. The vulnerabilities of these structures, often exacerbated by material degradation, have been starkly ...
