Deformation of basalt fiber materials

Refractories, 1996
The deformation of a canvas of superfine basalt fibers is investigated with the aim of refining the technological process of manufacturing heat insulation with a specified density and thickness. Based on the results of the work, recommendations are given to producers of heat-accumulating devices.

Basalt fiber reinforced foam concrete with marble waste and calcium aluminate cement

Structural Concrete, 2022
As a typical cellular lightweight material, foam concrete is produced by mixing cement, water, aggregate and a suitable foaming agent and has a density usually below 1600 kg/m3.

Failure analysis of glass fiber and basalt fiber reinforced polymer composites under an extreme environment with high‐temperature, high‐pressure and H2S/CO2 exposure

Polymer Composites
Fiber‐reinforced polymers composites (FRPs) are widely used in the industrial field, but their failure mechanism in extreme environments is usually unclear.

Ballistic and Charpy impact performance of basalt fiber reinforced polymer composites

Polymer Composites
In this study, the behavior of composite material produced using basalt, a natural fabric, under ballistic and Charpy impact loads was investigated. The damage resistance of target plates under ballistic loads is an important design parameter in the ...

Mechanical properties of steel fiber RPC, basalt fiber RPC, and hybrid fiber RPC: A review of research progress

Structural Concrete
Based on an analysis of the literature on fiber‐reinforced concrete (FRC), especially the development and formation of various types of FRC combined with reactive powder concrete (RPC) in recent years, this paper systematically expounds the research ...

Ballistic impact resistance and flexural performance of natural basalt fiber with carbon and glass fibers in inter‐ply hybrid composites

Polymer Composites
The ballistic and flexural behaviors of basalt (natural fabric), carbon, glass fiber, and their hybrid composites, were investigated in this study. The main objective of the paper was the addition of natural basalt fiber to the carbon and glass fibers ...

Stereological analysis of short basalt fiber composites

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
The anisotropy of a short fiber reinforced composite produced by injection molding of basalt fibers and polypropylene matrix has been studied by X-ray microtomography (or micro-CT). Fiber orientation was analyzed using four stereological methods: Mean Intercept Length (MIL), Volume Orientation (VO), Star Volume Distribution (SVD) and Star Length ...

Effect of interlaminar basalt fiber veil reinforcement on mode I fracture toughness of basalt fiber composites

Polymer Composites
Composite structures are vulnerable to delamination under out‐of‐plane loading due to the absence of reinforcing fibers in the thickness direction. This paper introduced the interlaminar basalt fiber veil technique to improve the interlaminar fracture ...

BASALT FIBERS AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF BASALT FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE

2014
Concrete is a brittle material with a low energy absorption capacity. There are several methods to increase the ductility of concrete where incorporation of different type of fibers is usually known as the most effective one. The most common type of fibers used for reinforcing concrete is steel, polymer, glass and carbon fibers.
