Numerical Prediction of Cavitation Erosion Risk Based on a New Erosion Indicator
International Journal for Numerical Methods in FluidsABSTRACTCavitation erosion would degrade the performance of the fluid machinery. To improve the reliability and prolong the life span of fluid machinery, it is necessary to study the mechanism of cavitation erosion and predict the possibility of erosion.

Soil erosion models can play a critical role in addressing problems associated with soil protection and conservation. They are used for assessment and inventory purposes when financial and time-costs of obtaining useful soil erosion measurements are prohibitive. They provide assessments of both on-site loss of topsoil and off-site delivery of sediments

Advanced Morphological Distances Based on Dilation and Erosion
Fundamenta Informaticae, 2019Distances based on morphological operations have shown good performance in a number of applications. Still, the existing erosion and dilation distance for gray scale images can not be computed in all situations. Furthermore, it is possible that dissimilarity between objects which are compared grows strongly, but the value of a mentioned distance does ...

Chronic post-traumatic erosion of the skull base
Neuroradiology, 1992Delayed post-traumatic erosion of the skull base is reported in three patients who presented as adults with cerebrospinal fluid fistulae and a history of recurrent meningitis. These skull defects were associated with herniation of the subarachnoid space into the diploe of the skull base, the paranasal sinuses and the orbit.

Allergic fungal sinusitis with cranial base erosion
Head & Neck, 1996Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) usually follows a slow, nonaggressive course. However, massive bone destruction can occur, with extension of the disease process outside of the confines of the sinuses. Our series of 28 cases of AFS was reviewed. We identified 6 cases of AFS with definite radiographic evidence of skull base erosion.Histologic diagnostic ...

Quantification of Erosion Development Patterns Based on the Gully Headcut Erosion
Land Degradation & DevelopmentABSTRACT The study of mechanisms of gully headcut erosion is crucial for predicting and preventing soil erosion and effectively reducing gully erosion. However, quantitative analysis from multiple perspectives and dimensions of gully morphological characteristics and their evolution patterns is still unclear. This

Base Erosion and Profit Shifting
2016This chapter covers several cross-border base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) schemes (e.g. lack of Economic Substance, the Dual Non-Residence, Abusive Tax Structure). These have allowed multinational enterprises to save money, while depriving tax authorities from collecting due taxes.

Physics of Fluids
This study presents a new synergy model that incorporates the accelerated motion of particles resulting from bubble collapse. The model uses the Erosion/Corrosion Research Center erosion model to predict the combined effect of cavitation and particle erosion on wall surfaces.

IMAGE-BASED EROSION MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUE
2002 Chicago, IL July 28-31, 2002, 2002Computer software exists for conducting image analysis but is often either cost prohibitive or very labor intensive to use. This paper describes a simple 2-D image-based technique used to conduct simple measurements photographically using software that would typically already be in use in an engineering office (i.e.

A Process-based Rill Erosion Model
Transactions of the ASAE, 1993The objective of this research was to develop a mathematical model that accounted for the different processes that cause sediment detachment in an eroding rill. Rill erosion data from nine cropland soils studied in the USDA Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) were analyzed.
