``Smart'' Base Isolation Systems
Advanced Technology in Structural Engineering, 2000This paper investigates the effectiveness of several base isolation strategies for historical earthquakes of various magnitudes and characteristics. The strategies studied herein include isolation systems with leadrubber bearings and with “smart” (semi-active) dampers.

Relaxation base seismic isolator
Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 2016SummaryThis paper deals with the use, for seismic applications, of a Maxwell element in parallel with a low damping isolator. The study of the properties of the frequency response function shows that this isolator is capable to reduce the base displacement of isolated structures with no considerable amplification of the non‐isolated modes.

Exact Solution of the Base-Isolated Structure With Elastomeric-Type Base Isolator
Seismic Engineering, Volume 1, 2004Base isolation technologies have been proven to be very efficient in protecting structures from seismic hazards during experimental and theoretical studies. In recent years, there have been more and more engineering applications using base isolators to upgrade the seismic resistibility of structures.

Exact Solution of the Base-Isolated Structure With Sliding Type Base Isolator
Seismic Engineering, Volume 1, 2004The use of base isolation for enhancing the seismic resistibility has been proved as an efficiency way from experimental efforts and theoretical studies. It is usual to insert a flexible device in horizontal direction to permit the most relative deformation at this level.

Inerter-Based Isolation System
2019This chapter is concerned with the problem of analysis and optimization of the inerter-based isolators based on a “uni-axial” single-degree-of-freedom isolation system. In the first part, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of inerter from the prospective of vibration, the frequency responses of both parallel-connected and series-connected ...

Magnetic Bead-Based Isolation of Exosomes
2014Exosomes are here defined as extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the approximate size range of 30-100 nm in diameter, and are observed in most body fluids containing typical exosomal markers such as CD9, CD63, and CD81. Potential subpopulations of exosomes can be captured by targeting these markers using magnetic beads.
