Latency Aware Drone Base Station Placement in Heterogeneous Networks

open access: yes, 2017
Different from traditional static small cells, Drone Base Stations (DBSs) exhibit their own advantages, i.e., faster and cheaper to deploy, more flexibly reconfigured, and likely to have better communications channels owing to the presence of short-range

Screening for Social Determinants of Health in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Point‐of‐Care Feasibility Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Social determinants of health (SDoH) can impact outcomes but are not routinely screened for in US outpatient rheumatology clinics. This study determined the feasibility of routine point‐of‐care SDoH screening among patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and associated barriers and facilitators at the physician, care team, and ...

Whole‐Blood RNA Sequencing Profiling of Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Treated With Tofacitinib

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) often fail to respond to therapies, including JAK inhibitors (JAKi), and treatment allocation is made via a trial‐and‐error strategy. A comprehensive analysis of responses to JAKi, including tofacitinib, by RNA sequencing (RNAseq) would allow the discovery of transcriptomic markers with a two‐fold ...

On Robustness of Massive MIMO Systems Against Passive Eavesdropping under Antenna Selection

open access: yes, 2018
In massive MIMO wiretap settings, the base station can significantly suppress eavesdroppers by narrow beamforming toward legitimate terminals. Numerical investigations show that by this approach, secrecy is obtained at no significant cost.

A TOF and TDOA underground joint positioning method based on UWB

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
The existing precise positioning system for mining personnel mainly adopts UWB positioning technology. The positioning method that only applies TOF requires joint ranging and orientation based on two positioning sub stations or antennas, which has ...

Wideband Asymmetric Coplanar Strip Fed Antennas With Pattern Diversity for mmWave 5G Base Stations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A compact asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS)-fed mmWave 5G antenna with 6.5-7.5 dBi end-fire gain is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is wideband, operating from 26-32 GHz with fractional bandwidth of 20.7%.

Multi-Cell Massive MIMO in LoS

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a multi-cell Massive MIMO system in a line-of-sight (LoS) propagation environment, for which each user is served by one base station, with no cooperation among the base stations.

BASE STATIONS FOR DIFFERENTIAL GPS

open access: yes, 2023
As a result of the development of science and technology in the last decade, it was possible to determine the spatial position of points using a new modern satellite method, and to check the accuracy of networks with high accuracy. Nowadays, it is possible to determine the spatial accuracy of points on the earth's surface with the help of satellites ...

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

Evaluation of the attractive effect of coloured sticky traps for Aleurocanthus spiniferus (Quaintance) and its monitoring method in tea garden in China

open access: yesJournal of Entomological and Acarological Research, 2015
Aleurocanthus spiniferus (Quaintance), namely tea spiny whitefly (TSW), belongs to the family Aleyrodidae in the order Homoptera, widespread in tea trees and fruit trees in many countries or regions.
