Sustainable Power Supply Solutions for Off-Grid Base Stations

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
The telecommunication sector plays a significant role in shaping the global economy and the way people share information and knowledge. At present, the telecommunication sector is liable for its energy consumption and the amount of emissions it emits in ...

Channel Service Based High Speed Railway Base Station Arrangement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
With the rapid development of high-speed railways, demands on high mobility wireless communication increase greatly. To provide stable and high data rate wireless access for users in the train, it is necessary to properly deploy base stations along the railway.

Spatio-Temporal Dynamic Graph Relation Learning for Urban Metro Flow Prediction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Urban metro flow prediction is of great value for metro operation scheduling, passenger flow management and personal travel planning. However, it faces two main challenges. First, different metro stations, e.g. transfer stations and non-transfer stations, have unique traffic patterns.

Competitive Charging Station Pricing for Plug-in Electric Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
This paper considers the problem of charging station pricing and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) station selection. When a PEV needs to be charged, it selects a charging station by considering the charging prices, waiting times, and travel distances.

Smart Rubber Extrusion Line Combining Multiple Sensor Techniques for AI‐Based Process Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This publication presents a digitalization approach for a laboratory rubber extrusion line, employing innovative measurement methods and artificial intelligence (AI)‐based process control. The results demonstrate that the measurement systems are capable of detecting changes in the process and extrudate quality.

Optimization of NOMA Downlink Network Parameters under Harvesting Energy Strategy Using Multi-Objective GWO [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2023
Non-orthogonal multiple access technique (NOMA) is based on the principle of sharing the same physical resource, over several power levels, where user’s signals are transmitted by using the superposition-coding scheme at the transmitter and these users ...

Interference Alignment and Degrees of Freedom Region of Cellular Sigma Channel [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We investigate the Degrees of Freedom (DoF) Region of a cellular network, where the cells can have overlapping areas. Within an overlapping area, the mobile users can access multiple base stations. We consider a case where there are two base stations both equipped with multiple antennas. The mobile stations are all equipped with single antenna and each

KupferDigital: Ontology‐Based Digital Representation for the Copper Life Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated how data from different stages in the life cycle of a copper product can be stored in an ontology‐based data space. In order to showcase the methods and tools used in the project, four use cases are presented that show how data from different sources can be semantically described and queried from a shared data space.

Cooperative Slotted Aloha for Multi-Base Station Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We introduce a framework to study slotted Aloha with cooperative base stations. Assuming a geographic-proximity communication model, we propose several decoding algorithmswith different degrees of base stations' cooperation (non-cooperative, spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal).

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.
