Trigeminal-based Temperature Illusions
Proceedings of the 2020 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2020We explore a temperature illusion that uses low-powered electronics and enables the miniaturization of simple warm and cool sensations. Our illusion relies on the properties of certain scents, such as the coolness of mint or hotness of peppers. These odors trigger not only the olfactory bulb, but also the nose's trigeminal nerve, which has receptors ...

Room‐Temperature Exciton‐Based Optoelectronic Switch
Small, 2021AbstractExcitons, bound pairs of electrons and holes, could act as an intermediary between electronic signal processing and optical transmission, thus speeding up the interconnection of photoelectric communication. However, up to date, exciton‐based logic devices such as switches that work at room temperature are still lacking.

Phosphor Based Temperature Indicating Paints
Volume 1: Aircraft Engine; Ceramics; Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels; Controls, Diagnostics and Instrumentation, 2012The ability to measure temperature in extreme environments such as the hot sections of gas turbines is critically important. Several on-line techniques exist but it is often not possible to measure in real-time the temperature of all surfaces of interest.

Cobalt-Base High-Temperature Alloys
Science, 2006We have identified cobalt-base superalloys showing a high-temperature strength greater than those of conventional nickel-base superalloys. The cobalt-base alloys are strengthened by a ternary compound with the L1 2 structure, \batchmode \documentclass[fleqn,10pt,legalpaper]{article ...

Room-Temperature and Near-Room-Temperature Molecule-Based Magnets
Inorganic Chemistry, 2008Additional members of the family of high- T c molecule-based magnets, V[acceptor] 2. yCH 2Cl 2 have been discovered in which the acceptor is a fluorophenyltricyanoethylene. Varying the number and position of the fluorine substitutions around the phenyl ring results in materials with significantly different magnetic ordering temperatures ( T c's ...

Quantum based temperature standards
Infrared Physics, 1993Abstract The value of basing the Kelvin temperature scale based on blackbody spectra is again emphasized. With the effectiveness of FTS now well established and some suggested refinements in data reduction, the way to implement this is now clear.

Temperature-based concurrency control
Proceedings Third International Workshop on Object Orientation in Operating Systems, 2002This paper briefly describes the work on concurrency-control algorithms for client-server object-oriented database systems. Other recent relevant work includes the design and implementation of the Harp replicated file system, the design of the Thor object-oriented database system and the design of the Theta object-oriented programming language. >

Air temperature is certainly the most measured surface meteorological parameter and worldwide accurate forecasting of air temperature is usually performed. These facts inspire the idea that a predicted value of air temperature may be used as entry in air temperature-based models for solar radiation aiming to forecast collectable solar energy.
