A topology-based filling algorithm
Computers & Graphics, 2001In this paper we present a fast-recursive fully automated topology-based algorithm for filling in the interiors of objects that appear in a binary image. The algorithm is based on two topological properties of the image contours: perimeter coincidence and interiority.

Topology-Based Spectral Sparsification
2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Large Data Analysis and Visualization (LDAV), 2019Graph sampling is often used to reduce a large graph, with challenges to ensure the sample is representative of the original graph. Spectral sparsification is a related concept that creates a sparsified version of graphs that preserves the spectrum of the original graph. We present TSS, a sampling method combining spectral sparsification with topology ...

Recently, several schemes have been proposed for IP traffic source identification for tracing attacks that employ source address spoofing such as denial of service (DoS) attacks. Most of these schemes are based on packet marking (i.e., augmenting IP packets with partial path information). A major challenge to packet marking schemes is the limited space

In this chapter we investigate bases and related objects in topological vector spaces and in particular in locally convex spaces. No attempt is made to be complete, we only treat some of the most important topics which will be needed in later discussions.

A Topology-Based Score for Pathway Enrichment
Journal of Computational Biology, 2012Abstract Investigators require intuitive tools to rationalize complex datasets generated by transcriptional profiling experiments. Pathway analysis methods, in which differentially expressed genes are mapped to databases of reference pathways to facilitate assessment of relative enrichment, lead investigators more effectively to ...

Nanoelectronics based on topological structures
Nature Materials, 2019Topological structures have considerable potential in nanoelectronics and new device concepts. They are key to the design and understanding of novel functionalities in ferroic materials — that is, materials that have one or more types of built-in order such as magnetic, ferroelectric, ferroelastic and multiferroic materials.

Topology Characterization for Position-based Wireless Network Topology Generators
2019 International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications (WiMob), 2019Topologies are usually characterized in terms of their network graph; usually by investigating their degree frequency, rank/degree, or hop/count distributions. Wireless network simulation, on the other hand, typically does not use network graphs. Instead, in most wireless simulations, nodes are first positioned on the terrain based on some positioning ...

A digital topology-based method for the topological filtering of a reconstructed surface
SPIE Proceedings, 2011In this paper, we use concepts from digital topology for the topological filtering of reconstructed surfaces. Given a finite set S of sample points in 3D space, we use the voronoi-based algorithm of Amenta & Bern to reconstruct a piecewise-linear approximation surface in the form of a triangular mesh with vertex set equal to S.

Thinning-based topological exploration using position probability of topological nodes
Proceedings 2006 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006. ICRA 2006., 2006A grid map can be efficiently used in navigation, but this type of map requires a large amount of memory in proportion to the size of the environment. As an alternative, a topological map can be used to represent the environment in terms of discrete nodes with edges connecting them.

Topology recognition of 3D closed freeform objects based on topological graphs
Proceedings of the sixth ACM symposium on Solid modeling and applications, 2001Reverse engineering (RE) deal with an enormous number of irregular and scattered digitized points that require intensive processing in order to reconstruct the surfaces of an object. Surface reconstruction of freeform objects is based on geometrical and topological criteria. Current fitting methods reconstruct an object using a bottom-up approach, from
