An Activity‐Dependent NEPAS–PTX3 Axis Links Neurovascular and Myelin Deficits to Cognitive Impairment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An activity‐dependent pathway links prefrontal circuit hypoactivity to cognitive impairment. Reduced PVA–mPFC activity upregulates NEPAS, which suppresses PTX3 secretion, leading to impaired angiogenesis, myelin deficits, and memory decline. Rescue is achieved by NEPAS knockdown or chemogenetic circuit activation.

Physical modelling applied to infrastructure development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The physical modelling conference series has served as a primary means of sharing practise and disseminating current research in experimental geotechnics. Each conference highlights the trends, techniques and direction of current research.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Geometry Dictates Neuronal Bursting via Calcium Store Refill Rates and Exposes Selective Neuronal Vulnerability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ER's continuous tubular network is maintained by ER‐shaping proteins whose mutation or dysregulation contributes to neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we show that ER morphology sets the speed of Ca2+ store replenishment between firing events. Disrupting ER continuity slows intra‐ER Ca2+ redistribution from extracellular refill (SOCE) sites, driving

Development of Modelling and Simulation tools for Geothermal Basements and Deep Foundations in Soft Clays

open access: yes, 2016
Pile heat exchangers are fast emerging as a potentially viable alternative to the more prevalent borehole heat exchangers for the provision of space heating and cooling. In the last decade or so, the use of geothermal piles has increased sharply in many countries including Belgium, China, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and United ...

FASLG Derived from Fibroblasts in Hydroxyapatite‐Rich Microenvironment Induces Urothelial Anoikis to Trigger Randall's Plaque Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Randall's plaques (RP) serve as the nidus for calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stones. The current study reveals that hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystals activate the THY1–GSK3α/β–β‐catenin axis in renal interstitial fibroblasts (hRIFs), inducing FASLG secretion.

Simulation of Water Proofing Building Using Poly Ethylene (PE) Sheets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The research focused on how to use high density poly ethylene )HDPE( sheets in waterproofing operations of floor buildings (bathrooms, kitchens, basements and swimming pools), which uses Bitumen and how the Bitumen is modified by introducing some ...

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal TAGLN2 Promotes Metastasis by Inducing Vascular Permeability and Angiogenesis via the NRP1/SEMA4D/YAP Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gastric cancer‐derived exosomal TAGLN2 is identified as a key mediator of vascular reprogramming, with significantly elevated levels detected in patient serum. Independent of canonical SEMA4D signaling, it nucleates a cytoplasmic TAGLN2/NRP1/SEMA4D ternary complex that dually activates YAP, promoting angiogenesis, vascular dysfunction, and metastasis ...

Household-invading beetles (2016) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Several species of beetles may invade homes. Because they rarely damage anything in the home, they generally are considered to be nuisance pests. These insects vary widely in size and habits.
