This paper describes the effect of basement excavation and foundation loading on tunnel in sand. Typical tunnel geometry of Delhi Metro and soil conditions in part of Delhi (Yamuna Sand) are considered for modelling. The construction sequences of tunnel excavations, basement footing with retaining wall and the loading on footing have been numerically ...

The soil condition, the foundation and the basement of the Frauenkirche in Dresden
Construction and Building Materials, 2003Abstract The archeological reconstruction of the Frauenkirche in Dresden was begun immediately following the archeological removal of the rubble of the remains. In this process, four essential construction phases were realized during the time frame from May 1994 until August 1996.

The liquefaction-triggering potential of foundation soils is still a difficult and questionable area as the methods of determination of the liquefaction-triggering potential are only valid for free-field level sites at the present time. However, liquefaction is a major problem especially in urban areas, which have a number of structures.

Proper design of structural system is the most important task for a structural engineer. Correct assessment of interaction of the building with the subsoil and its significant impact not only on the foundation structure but also on the entire building is very often forgotten. For design of all parts and for the whole structure the ultimate limit state (

We proved the identity of measurements of deformations of the bases of buildings and structures by using the methods of leveling and cyclic inclinometric methods. We present some recommendations concerning the determination of deformations of the bases of buildings and structures (settlements, curvatures of the bent section of the structure) according ...

This paper presents a graphical method for locating the optimum position of outriggers on shear walls with basement fin extensions for preliminary design of high-rise stuctures subjected to horizontal loading. This location for the outrigger will cause a maximum reduction in lateral deflection at the top of the building.
