Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Assessment of Activities of Daily Living, Self-Care, and Independence.

open access: yesArchives of Clinical Neuropsychology, 2016
Activities of daily living (ADL) comprise the basic actions that involve caring for one's self and body, including personal care, mobility, and eating. In this review article, we (1) review useful clinical tools including a discussion on ways to approach

The effects of the watsu method on functional capacity, anxiety and depression in patients with parkinson disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive pathology that results from the degeneration of the black substance responsible for the voluntary control of movements. The reduction of dopamine generates motor and non-motor symptoms that hinder the

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Watch-n-Patch: Unsupervised Learning of Actions and Relations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
There is a large variation in the activities that humans perform in their everyday lives. We consider modeling these composite human activities which comprises multiple basic level actions in a completely unsupervised setting. Our model learns high-level co-occurrence and temporal relations between the actions.

(In)dependence of elderly people at their home in performing basic activities of daily living [PDF]

open access: yesRev Rene, 2013
We aimed to outline the (in)dependence in performing basic activities of daily living of elderly people at home; apply educational geronto-technology to minimize specific functional loss; identify functional changes of these people, after using ...

Monitoring physical function in patients with knee osteoarthritis using data from wearable activity monitors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Currently used clinical assessments for physical function do not objectively quantify daily activities in routine living. Wearable activity monitors enable objective measurement of routine daily activities, but do not map to clinically measured physical performance measures. We represent physical function as a daily activity profile derived from minute-

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Radar Classification of Contiguous Activities of Daily Living [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We consider radar classifications of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) which can prove beneficial in fall detection, analysis of daily routines, and discerning physical and cognitive human conditions. We focus on contiguous motion classifications which follow and commensurate with the human ethogram of possible motion sequences.
