Subcutaneous Basidiobolomycosis Resembling Fournier’s Gangrene [PDF]
Journal of Tropical Pediatrics, 2016 Basidiobolomycosis is an uncommon cutaneous zygomycete infection typically seen in immunocompetent individuals. Diagnosis can be made by biopsy and fungal culture of the lesion. Treatment with Potassium iodide and co-trimoxazole is simple and effective. Early and accurate diagnosis of basidiobolomycosis is essential to avoid dissemination and mortality.

Case Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.We present a case of a Hispanic woman in her 70s who presented with nonspecific lower abdominal pain leading to a diagnosis of hepatic and colonic sarcoidosis. She had elevated liver function tests (LFTs), and imaging ruled out ischemia and cholangitis but revealed a cecal and ascending colon wall thickening with fat stranding.
