Your Basis, My Basis

2022
Abstract This chapter introduces important symbolic manipulations of quantum states—in particular, changing the basis states used to describe a quantum state. The inner product between state vectors plays a crucial role in those manipulations.

Conditional GrÖbner Basis: GrÖbner Basis Detection with Parameters

ACM Communications in Computer Algebra, 2023
For a given finite polynomial set, finding a monomial order such that the given set is already a GrÖbner basis for the ideal generated by the given set with respect to the found monomial order is called GrÖbner basis detection (GBD) problem and there is also its simpler version, called structural GrÖbner

A basis for cones

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
Why do the human cones have the spectral sensitivities they do? We hypothesize that they may have evolved to their present form because their sensitivities are optimal in terms of their ability to recover the spectrum of incident light. As evidence in favor of this hypothesis, we compare the accuracy with which the incoming spectrum can be approximated

A Basis for Care

The American Journal of Nursing, 1972
nursing instructor. I came to appreciate a good nursing care plan the year I worked as a per diem nurse, rotating through patient units in three buildings of a large teaching hospital. Care plans which I could read and implement helped me to be more effective and eased my anxiety in taking charge on an unfamiliar floor.

The Basis of Electrochemotherapy

2003
Antitumor electrochemotherapy is a treatment of solid tumors which combines a cytotoxic nonpermeant drug, like bleomycin, with locally delivered permeabilizing electric pulses (1-3). More generally, a new form of vectorization is achieved by the combination of nonpermeant molecules with intracellular targets and of a physical perturbation that locally ...

A COMMUTATOR BASIS

The Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 1983
This paper supports a paper by the same author on an isomorphism problem for 2-generator metabelian groups of prime exponent \(p\) [ibid. 34, 329--355 (1983; Zbl 0544.20017)]. The main result is a rather technical statement about the behaviour of a basis for the commutator subgroup of the 2-generator (relatively) free metabelian group of exponent \(p\)

MOLECULAR BASIS OF THALASSAEMIA

British Medical Bulletin, 1975
Summary. The thalassaemias are a heterogeneous group of conditions characterized by imbalanced globin chain production. In some forms there is a total absence of globin chain synthesis while in others globin chains are synthesized but at a reduced rate.

Structural basis of denitrification

Biological Chemistry, 2004
Denitrification represents an important part of the biogeochemical cycle of the essential element nitrogen. It constitutes the predominant pathway of the reductive dissimilation of nitrate in the environment. Via four enzymatic reactions, nitrate is transformed stepwise to nitrite (NO2-), nitric oxide (NO), and nitrous oxide (N2O), to finally yield ...
