Beyond the Metrics: Context‐Aware Calibration for Better Drain Flow Modelling

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 2, Page 659-668, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Robust hydrological and water quality modelling is essential for advancing the understanding and management of engineered agricultural subsurface drainage systems. Achieving credible model output hinges on calibration strategies that are both rigorous and context sensitive. At the field scale, accurately capturing the dynamics of nutrient load

A Comparative Study on the Irrigation Suitability of Kerala's Rivers Using Fuzzy AHP and Conventional Methods

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 2, Page 815-839, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Food security in Kerala depends on effective irrigation, but poor‐quality irrigation water poses threats such as salinity, sodicity and reduced soil productivity. Although past assessments have been localised, this study presents the first comprehensive, statewide evaluation of irrigation water suitability across 44 major rivers in Kerala.

Taxonomy and Functional Traits Modulate the Environmental Niche Dimensions of Crustacean Zooplankton Communities in Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Beds

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 71, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Community ecologists now recognise the importance of simultaneously integrating spatial and environmental processes, together with functional traits and phylogeny to provide a more complete understanding of community responses to environmental conditions.

Scoping Review of Paddy Field Dam Studies in Japan

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 1, Page 198-216, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Paddy field dams are one of the nature‐based solutions provided by farmers in Japan for mitigating flood damage. This scoping review analysed 38 papers in the Web of Science Core Collection and J‐STAGE obtained by searching for keywords associated with paddy field dams.

Behavioural tactics across thermal gradients align with partial morphological divergence in brook charr

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 2, Page 359-376, February 2026.
Our study reveals that brook charr adopt distinct ‘warm’ and ‘cool’ behavioural tactics to balance foraging and thermal stress in stratified lakes. By linking fine‐scale thermal movements to morphology, we show how temperature‐driven habitat use promotes individual specialization and potential ecotypic divergence under climate change.

Modélisation de la charge annuelle en azote et phosphore par analyse spatiale d'informations topographiques et d'occupation des sols - Cas d'un petit bassin versant méditerranéen

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2000
Préserver les eaux de surface vis-à-vis de l'eutrophisation implique l'estimation des rejets de nutriments (azote et phosphore) et le contrôle de ces rejets à l'échelle du bassin versant.
