以上の試験および前報の結果によれば, 60Coの照射によるペクチン物質のdegradationは0.1~0.5Mradにおいて明瞭に認められるが, この間におけるセルロースの損傷はさほど著しいものではない。従って靱皮繊維の精練ないし採繊において, 特に繊維強力の若干の低下と短繊化が許容される混紡用原料の作成等に際して, 化学薬剤による精練の前処理としての60Co照射は, 原料の腐化防止効果と相まって, 興味ある一手段といえよう。
