Advanced Decortication Technology for Unretted Bast Fibres

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2004
Abstract Advanced decortication technology is based on a simple mechanical process, in which bast fibres are decorticated by impact stress. Hemp, flax and linseed are processed with the same technology that is suitable for both unretted and retted plants.

Characterization and Spinning Performance of Pineapple Leaf Fibers: An Economic and Sustainable Approach for Bangladesh

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2021
The by-products of pineapple fruits such as stems and leaves are generally considered as agro-wastes, but these wastes can be used as raw materials for reinforced fibre, yarn and eventually in fabric formation.

Microscopic Study on Hemp Bast Fibre Formation

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2007
Abstract Commonly, fibre hemp (Cannabis sativa) is not considered for the production of soft and easy-care textiles. However, initial tests in the textile industry have shown that certain processes allow improvement in the everyday-wear characteristics of hemp textiles.

Thermogravimetric Analysis of the Flax Bast Fibre Bundle

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2006
Abstract Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) makes it possible to obtain information on change in physicochemical properties of bio-polymeric components of flax fibres when determining their quantitative content by burning microsamples in the range of 25-500°C.

Bast fibre formation: insights from Next-Generation Sequencing

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2017
Abstract Bast fibres are extraxylary sclerenchymatous cells characterized by a noteworthy length and by a cell wall composed of crystalline cellulose. Bast fibres support mechanically the phloem and are used for different industrial applications by the textile and biocomposite sectors.
