Characterization of Nanoparticle Batch-To-Batch Variability [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
A central challenge for the safe design of nanomaterials (NMs) is the inherent variability of NM properties, both as produced and as they interact with and evolve in, their surroundings. This has led to uncertainty in the literature regarding whether the biological and toxicological effects reported for NMs are related to specific NM properties ...

The effect of batched patient–physician assignment on patient length of stay in the emergency department

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open, 2022
Objectives Queuing theory suggests that signing up for multiple patients at once (batching) can negatively affect patients’ length of stay (LOS). At academic centers, resident assignment adds a second layer to this effect.

To Batch or Not to Batch? Comparing Batching and Curriculum Learning Strategies across Tasks and Datasets

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
Many natural language processing architectures are greatly affected by seemingly small design decisions, such as batching and curriculum learning (how the training data are ordered during training).

A Three-Stage ACO-Based Algorithm for Parallel Batch Loading and Scheduling Problem with Batch Deterioration and Rate-Modifying Activities

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper addresses a batch loading and scheduling problem of minimizing the makespan on parallel batch processing machines. For batch loading, jobs with compatible families can be assigned to the same batch process even if they differ in size; however,

Batch delivery scheduling of trucks integrated with parallel machine schedule of job orders from multi-customers

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2018
This article considers an integration of two-echelon supply chain management (SCM) problem between a manufacturing site and customers. In the first echelon, jobs ordered by a number of customers are arranged and manufactured by one of a number of ...

Bottlenecks to product rate variation problem with batching

open access: yesBibechana, 2012
The product rate variation problem with batching minimizes the variation in the rate at which different models of a common base product are produced on the assembly lines with the assumption of significant setup and arbitrary processing times for each ...

Batch-to-batch reproducibility of Transferon™

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2014
Human dialyzable leukocyte extracts (DLEs) are heterogeneous mixtures of low-molecular-weight peptides that modulate immune responses in various diseases. Due their complexity, standardized methods to identify their physicochemical properties and determine that production batches are biologically active must be established.

Batch NFS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper shows, assuming standard heuristics regarding the number-field sieve, that a "batch NFS" circuit of area L^{1.181...+o(1)} factors L^{0.5+o(1)} separate B-bit RSA keys in time L^{1.022...+o(1)}. Here L=exp((log 2^B)^{1/3}(log log 2^B)^{2/3}). The circuit's area-time product (price-performance ratio) is just L^{1.704...+o(1)} per key.
