Mantle Dynamic Topography of the Fringing Oceanic Basins of Antarctica

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Dynamic mantle processes are known to influence oceanic basins with implications for ocean circulation and climate. This study exploits an interdisciplinary approach to probe present‐day mantle and lithosphere beneath Antarctica's fringing oceanic basins to better understand sub‐crustal processes and implications for the continental realm.

Multidecadal Oscillation Masks Ocean Wave Climate Trends in 75‐Year Global Wave Hindcast

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The observed increases in temperature and sea level are clearly driven by climate change, and these trends are projected to accelerate in the future. The ocean surface wave characteristics are projected to change depending on the climatic elements.

High Fraction of Glacial Meltwater Along Two Separate Isopycnals Observed in Summer 2020 Near and Off the Pine Island and Thwaites Ice Shelves, West Antarctica

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The spatial distribution and dynamics of glacial meltwater (MW) influence ocean circulation off and basal melt rate below Antarctic ice shelves. While previous studies described the MW distribution in Pine Island Bay off Pine Island Ice Shelf (PIIS), quantitative constraints on the spatial heterogeneity of the spread of MW associated with ...

Impact of Intraseasonal Coastal Trapped Waves on Upwelling in the Northern Gulf of Guinea

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract We investigate the impact of equatorially‐forced intraseasonal coastal trapped waves (CTWs) on temperature variability in the Northern Gulf of Guinea (NGG) upwelling system, using a high‐resolution (1/36°) regional ocean model simulation spanning 2008–2017.

Wind‐Induced Coastal Upwelling Off Southeast Japan Supplying Surface Nutrients to the Kuroshio Downstream

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Wind‐induced coastal upwelling plays a significant role in ocean circulations and ecosystems. Although coastal upwelling along eastern boundaries by trade winds is well known, coastal upwelling along western boundaries and its effects in the North‐East Pacific Ocean have not been well investigated in previous studies.
