Bathymetry estimates in the southern oceans from Seasat altimetry

Nature, 1983
A 70-day Seasat altimeter set, where altitude was determined by the delay of a radar signal before return, was high pass filtered to obtain bathymetric data on the southern ocean. Variations were estimated over cross-track passages over the same points, and longer wavelength effects were removed to reveal the shorter wavelength geoid features.

AQS-20 sonar processing enhancement for bathymetry estimation

Proceedings of OCEANS 2005 MTS/IEEE, 2005
Bathymetry is used to determine optimal tactics during Mine Warfare operations. Previous work demonstrated that bathymetric data could be acquired from the Volume Search Sonar (VSS) mounted on the AQS-20 system. The VSS transmitter produces a pulse at approximately one-second intervals along the track.

Estimating layover in broadband synthetic aperture sonar bathymetry

Europe Oceans 2005, 2005
In this paper we investigate broadband interferometric height estimation using a small vertical hydrophone array and multiple frequency bands as a means of reducing image layover artefacts. We demonstrate the effect of layover on bathymetric images using simulated imagery to avoid the ground-truth problem.

Bathymetry estimations using vicariously calibrated HICO data

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
The Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean (HICO) is a prototype sensor installed on the International Space Station (ISS) designed to explore the management and capability of a space-borne hyperspectral sensor. The Office of Naval Research (ONR) funded the development and management of HICO.

Internal wave effects on seafloor imagery and bathymetry estimates

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
Large linear structures (tens of meters by several meters) have been observed recently in seafloor imagery and bathymetry collected with both synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) and multibeam echosounder (MBES) systems. It has been suggested [Hansen, et al., IEEE J.

Estimating Nearshore Bathymetry from X-Band Radar Data

2015
In the last few years a number of land- and ship- based X-band radar systems have been developed to collect information on the sea state, i.e. on the significant wave height as well a s on its spectral distribution. More recently, new techniques have been developed to estimate shallow water bathymetry, by taking into account the effects of depth on the

Estimation of Bathymetry Profiles For Poorly Gauged River Networks

Knowledge of water depth h(x,t) [m] in rivers, more precisely the cross-sectional area A(x,t) [m^2], or equivalently the bathymetry b(x) [m] once a geometrical wetted cross-sections model is fixed, is indispensable data for setting up river dynamics models.
