The donation to The Natural History Museum, London of the Institute of Oceanographic Sciences (IOS) Discovery collections in 1997 included pycnogonids taken in bathypelagic samples collected with a rectangular mid-water trawl. The material of Pallenopsis tritonis Hoek, 1883 in these collections has been analysed and reported elsewhere.
