Les Phocéens, Marseille et la Gaule (viie-iiie s. av. J.-C.)

open access: yesPallas, 2012

Hemotropic mycoplasmas in little brown bats (Myotis lucifugus). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundHemotropic mycoplasmas are epicellular erythrocytic bacteria that can cause infectious anemia in some mammalian species. Worldwide, hemotropic mycoplasmas are emerging or re-emerging zoonotic pathogens potentially causing serious and ...

The “Vampire Bat” [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1883
DR. ROMANES, in criticising a book (“Zoological Sketches”), in NATURE, vol. xxvii. p. 333, says: “The writer speaks of vampire bats as those which suck the blood of sleeping persons, whereas the truth is, as Belt has remarked, ‘the vampire is the most harmless of bats.’”

Antioxidant Defenses in the Brains of Bats during Hibernation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Hibernation is a strategy used by some mammals to survive a cold winter. Small hibernating mammals, such as squirrels and hamsters, use species- and tissue-specific antioxidant defenses to cope with oxidative insults during hibernation.

Knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes by residents in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan in connection with bats

open access: yesJournal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine, 2022
Background Fruit bats play an important role in pollination and seed dispersal, and their conservation is important to maintain the productivity of some crops and natural ecosystems. The objective of this study was to investigate the knowledge, attitudes,

The difference in the composition of gut microbiota is greater among bats of different phylogenies than among those with different dietary habits

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Bats have a very long evolutionary history and are highly differentiated in their physiological functions. Results of recent studies suggest effects of some host factors (e.g., phylogeny and dietary habit) on their gut microbiota.

Sonochemically‐Induced Reduction of Alkenes to Alkanes with Ammonia

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 134, Issue 51, December 19, 2022., 2022
Ammonia is used as a hydrogen source for the reduction of alkenes to alkanes. The originality stems from the use of cavitation bubbles that act as “microreactors” to break the N−H bond of NH3. As a result, this protocol does not involve any catalyst and it releases nitrogen (and partly hydrogen) as a sole co‐product.

The distribution of bat species across the underground sites of Georgia [PDF]

open access: yesSubterranean Biology
In Georgia, investigations of bat species using caves have been conducted since the beginning of the 20th century. However, robust knowledge is still largely unavailable, as only about 15% of the roughly 2,000 underground sites have been surveyed for ...

New directional bat algorithm for continuous optimization problems [PDF]

open access: yesExpert Systems with Applications, vol. 69, 159-175 (2017), 2018
Bat algorithm (BA) is a recent optimization algorithm based on swarm intelligence and inspiration from the echolocation behavior of bats. One of the issues in the standard bat algorithm is the premature convergence that can occur due to the low exploration ability of the algorithm under some conditions.
