A dynamic battery model for simulation of battery-to-grid applications

2012 3rd IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT Europe), 2012
The number of fluctuating energy sources in the power grid increases continuously. Simultaneously the importance of electrical energy storage increases. Batteries are one promising possibility for short-term storage. In this work a mathematical impedance model of a Lithium-ion battery with high dynamics for simulation of loads due to driving cycles and

Battery Modelling and SOC Estimation of a LiFePO4 Battery

2016 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control (IS3C), 2016
The change rate of terminal voltage of a LiFePO4 battery is too small to be used to estimate state of charge (SOC) during discharging when the battery is within 10-80% SOC. A coulombic counting SOC estimation (Ah) method has the disadvantages of accumulated error and start point error.

Energetical Modeling of Lithium-Ion Batteries

2007 IEEE Industry Applications Annual Meeting, 2007
All electrochemical batteries are characterized by an electrical behavior which depends on temperature, state of charge and current. In the case of lithium-ion accumulators, the energetical behavior is moreover deeply marked by line effects, due to the porosity of both electrodes. This paper deals with investigations on accurate energetical modeling of

A lithium-ion battery modeling for a HIL-battery simulator

2013 International Conference on Computer, Control, Informatics and Its Applications (IC3INA), 2013
A battery simulator is needed to test battery management systems (BMS) for electric vehicles. A new battery simulator called a Hardware in Loop (HIL)-battery simulator is build. In order to facilitate the electric battery model part of the HIL-battery simulator, a simple and accurate equivalent circuit model for LiFePO 4 batteries is defined.

Modeling of rechargeable batteries

Current Opinion in Chemical Engineering, 2016
Development of accurate, real time models for rechargeable batteries is essential for efficient battery management and their safe operation. This paper presents a short review on the various existing rechargeable battery models. We propose a new classification of the models as being first principles based, surrogate first principles based, data-based ...

Sensitivity analysis of lithium-ion battery model to battery parameters

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
Different models have been proposed so far to represent the dynamic characteristics of batteries. These models contain a number of parameters and each of them represents an internal characteristic of the battery. Since the battery is an entity that works based on many electrochemical reactions, the battery parameters are subject to change due to ...

Mathematical modeling of lithium–sulfur batteries

2022
Modeling is the basis of research on lithium-sulfur batteries. The model can characterize the dynamic characteristics of lithium-sulfur batteries and provide references to theoretical research and applications. The model is important to managing and controlling the battery and related to its state estimation, such as the states of charge, health, and ...

Modeling and SOC estimation of LiFePO4 battery

2016 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2016
In order to estimate the state of charge (SOC) of LiFePO4 battery more accurately, an improved Extended Kalman Filter (EFK) algorithm is proposed to estimate the parameters in the least squared identification model. A second-order RC equivalent circuit is used as the battery model, and an additive term is introduced into the state equation for real ...

Modelling of polymer batteries

Solid State Ionics, 1989
Abstract We analyze theoretical performance limits of secondary polymer batteries based on electroactive polymer electrodes and solid or liquid organic electrolytes. A simple expression is given relating the energy per weight and volume density to properties of the materials used.
