Comparing the Effect of Semi‐Immersive Virtual Reality, Computerized Cognitive Training, and Traditional Rehabilitation on Cognitive Function in Multiple Sclerosis: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cognitive impairment is a common non‐motor symptom in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), negatively affecting autonomy and Quality of Life (QoL). Innovative rehabilitation strategies, such as semi‐immersive virtual reality (VR) and computerized cognitive training (CCT), may offer advantages over traditional cognitive rehabilitation (TCR ...

Modelling and analysis of nuclear reactor system coupled with a liquid metal battery

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering
Traditionally, nuclear power plants in the U.S. provide baseload power to the power grid because they have less flexibility for ramping their output power than natural gas peaking plants.

Optimal operation of battery for wind-storage hybrid power plant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
<div>In order to participate in energy market, variable renewable energy sources need to reduce the uncertainty of forecast errors. Inclusion of storage can be a viable option not only to minimize the penalties due to forecast uncertainties but also to maximize the revenue generation. This paper presents a</div><div>decision framework

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

On Paste Compositions for Isolated Lighting Plant Lead Storage Batteries

open access: yesTransactions of The Electrochemical Society, 1940
Storage batteries are compared in which the positive plates were made with and without ball‐milling the oxides preparatory to making the pastes. The pasted positive plates were given two different curing conditions: one consisted of air‐drying at room temperature, while the other consisted of a steam vapor treatment.

Natural Frequencies of Levodopa‐Induced Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesias, are common complications of levodopa treatment in patients with Parkinson's disease and can significantly impair quality of life. The underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, and current therapeutic options are limited.

The Optimal Timing of Storage Additions to Solar Power Plants

open access: yesEnergies
The addition of battery storage to solar plants enhances the ability of those plants to deliver electricity during high-value periods. However, the value proposition of storage improves over time due to falling battery costs and increasing volatility in ...

Dynamic modelling of ice‐based thermal energy storage for cooling applications

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, 2022
The development of accurate dynamic models of thermal energy storage (TES) units is important for their effective operation within cooling systems. This paper presents a one‐dimensional discretised dynamic model of an ice‐based TES tank.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.
