Bauhinia tomentosa L./Bauhinia variegata L. (Fabaceae/Leguminosae)

2020
Both species of Bauhinia, i.e. B. tomentosa and B. variegata are described as Kachnal or Kuchnar/Kachnar in Unani medicine literature. Bark is described as alterative, tonic, and astringent, useful in skin diseases and ulcers, to prevent decomposition of blood and humours, and used for leprosy and scrofula.

Effect of Different Chemical Treatments on Surface Morphology, Thermal and Tensile Strength of Bauhinia Vahlii (BV) Stem Fibers

Journal of Natural Fibers, 2020
Appropriate surface modifications are required to enhance the compatibility of natural fibers with polymer matrix to develop eco-friendly composites. One of such novel plant fibers is Bauhinia vahlii (BV) stem fiber.

Process optimization of adsorption of Cr(VI) on adsorbent prepared from Bauhinia rufescens pod by Box-Behnken Design

Separation Science and Technology, 2020
This study investigated chromium (VI) removal from simulated water using H3PO4 modified Bauhinia rufescens pod (ACBRP). Box-Behnken Design was used to optimize pH (2–10), time (30–120 min), agitation (120–200 rpm), and temperature (25–40°C) for the ...

Himalayan Natural Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Composites: Effect of Grewia optiva/Bauhinia Vahlii Fibers on Physico-mechanical and Dry Sliding Wear Behavior

Journal of Natural Fibers, 2019
The physical, mechanical, and sliding wear properties of Grewia optiva and hybrid G. optiva/Bauhinia vahlii fiber-reinforced epoxy composites were investigated. Results reveal that 6 wt.% hybrid G. optiva/B.

Bauhinia Genome

Bauhinia x blakeana Dunn has long been proposed to be a sterile interspecific hybrid exhibiting flower heterosis when compared to its parental species, Bauhinia purpurea L. and Bauhinia variegata L. Here, we report comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses of the three Bauhinia species.
