Constitutive acoustic-emission elastic-stress behavior of magnesium alloy [PDF]

open access: yes
Repeated laoding and unloading of a magnesium alloy below the macroscopic yield stress result in continuous acoustic emissions which are generally repeatable for a given specimen and which are reproducible between different specimens having the same load

Stress-structure relation in dense colloidal melt under forward and instantaneous reversal of shear

open access: yes, 2015
Dense supercooled colloidal melt in forward shear from a quiescent state shows overshoot in shear stress at 10% strain with an unchanged fluid structure at equal stress before and after overshoot.

Evaluation of Rotation Capacity and Bauschinger Effect Coefficient of I-Shaped Beams Considering Loading Protocol Influences

open access: yesBuildings
Recent catastrophic earthquake events have reinforced the necessity of evaluating the seismic performance of buildings. Notably, the buildings can go into the plastic phase during a striking earthquake disaster.

The Bauschinger effect

open access: yes, 1953
If a work-hardenable metal is deformed plastically by a tensile stress +σ₀ and unloaded, its mechanical properties become anisotropic; in particular, though its tensile yield stress is now +σ₀, it will deform plastically if compression stresses numerically smaller than σ₀ are applied. This is known as the Bauschinger effect (Bauschinger 1886).

A finite strain thermo-mechanically coupled material model for semi-crystalline polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, a thermo-mechanically coupled constitutive model for semicrystalline polymers is derived in a thermodynamically consistent manner. In general, the macroscopic material behaviour of this class of materials is dictated by the underlying ...
