Natural Resources and Political Patronage in Africa: An Ethnicity Level Analysis

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the effect of resource discoveries on ethnicity‐level political patronage in Africa using a large geospatial dataset of 254 ethnic groups in 15 countries over the period 1960–2004. We find that the first (or single first) resource discovery in a virgin ethnic homeland increases the share of cabinet posts of that ethnicity.

Enhanced earthing performance by improved design and grounding material properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An enhance ground electrode (E.G.E.) is a portable grounding system that acts as an additional grounding system, designed for zero potential reference points. The E.G.E could eliminate the increasing of resistance in grounding conductor as it placed next

Alumosilicate ceramic proppants based on natural refractory raw materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The sintering-strengthening effect of the additions of the highly ferrous bauxite (with Fe[2]O[3] content of 20-25 % in the calcined state) in the compositions with refractory clays was established.

Microbially generated ferruginous crusts: A potential biosignature of continental input in coastal settings

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Thin ferruginous sandy crusts are common on top of sandstone beds in the Early Permian post‐glacial deposits of the Paraná Basin in southern Brazil. These crusts usually preserve wrinkle structures, suggesting that they might be a product of microbial mediation.

Limnology of Four Bauxite Open-Pit Lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
The aquatic flora and fauna and 18 physicochemical characteristics of four bauxite open-pit lakes were studied from September 1969 to August 1970. The least acid lake (pH 3.4-4.4) supported 49 different aquatic insects, plankton, and higher aquatic ...

Twenty‐Year Longitudinal Cohort Study of Cancer Incidence and Mortality Among Workers in Two Primary Aluminum Prebake Smelters

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, Volume 69, Issue 4, Page 269-282, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Classified as carcinogenic to humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, aluminum production has been transitioning towards lower polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon‐emitting prebake smelters. This study explored the risk of cancer and mortality over 20 years follow‐up among a cohort of aluminum prebake smelter workers ...
