The Aluminum energy storage cycle involves the use of renewable energy for Al production and the generation of heat (dry cycle) and heat and H2 (wet cycle) for energy production via Al‐steam combustion. ABSTRACT Reaching climate neutrality by 2050 requires innovative long‐term energy storage (LTES) solutions beyond the current use of fossil fuels ...

Hydrogen in Treatment of Bauxite Residues
This study explores pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods for decarbonizing and recovering valuable metals from bauxite residue, with direct hydrogen reduction in a rotary kiln without smelting and dissolution of solid residues under high pressure in an autoclave.

High silicon iron alloy from bauxite residue
Bauxite residue (BR) contains typically 20 to 50% iron oxide. A full valorisation of the BR requires that this iron is returned to the market. It is not difficult to recover this iron as pig iron, but the market price for pig iron is too low to make this economically viable.

Origin and distribution of mineral species in limestone caves [PDF]
More than 80 mineral species are known to result from secondary chemical reactions in solutional limestone caverns. These minerals are transitional and end-products of carbonate wall rock interactions with ground water and organic residue.

Carbon capture using wastes: A review [PDF]
Potential key strategies for the management of anthropogenic CO2 emissions include mineral carbonation and storage in oil wells and in the oceans. In Europe, a large-scale demonstration of carbon capture and storage (CCS) has recently been given the go ...
