Automatic Detection of Moving Baw Baw Frogs in Camera Trap Videos
2018 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA), 2018This paper presents the design and implementation of a motion detection algorithm for processing of video sequences captured by a purpose-built camera trap, removing of unwanted frames, and reducing of the size of the video sequences. The camera trap is used to create a dataset containing H.264 video sequences of the critically endangered Baw Baw Frog ...

Monocrystalline 4H Silicon Carbide-on-Insulator Substrates for Nav-Grade Planar BAW Gyroscopes
2021 IEEE International Symposium on Inertial Sensors and Systems (INERTIAL), 2021This paper reports on the unique merits of monocrystalline hexagonal silicon carbide-on-insulator (4H-SiCOI) substrates for the implementation of maximally-driven bulk acoustic wave (BAW) gyroscopes on a chip. The scaling of performance in planar silicon

Near-Field-Coupled Bondless BAW Oscillators in WCSP Package with 46fs Jitter
Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium, 2021This paper presents a 2.5 GHz bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonator-based oscillator in a wafer chip scale package (WCSP). Electro-Magnetic coupling is used to eliminate rigid galvanic connections between the BAW die and the CMOS oscillator die. The BAW die

BAW wavefront propagation simulations
1998 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings (Cat. No. 98CH36102), 2002Bulk acoustic wave (BAW) propagation is simulated by numerically solving an equation of motion with the FFT method. The effect of a point source disturbance is simulated for various anisotropic media; the result has been presented as a movie. A comparison of the numerical computations with the experimental imaging data shows excellent agreement.

An acoustic signal is launched as a surface acoustic wave (SAW) by a hyperbolically tapered transducer and then reflected into a bulk acoustic wave (BAW) by a tapered reflector. At each frequency the tapered reflector must satisfy the phase match conditions between the SAW and BAW as defined by their wave vectors.

BAW microwave temperature sensor
Proceedings of IEEE Sensors, 2004., 2006The paper studies the possibility of using microwave high overtone bulk acoustic wave resonators (HBAR) in temperature sensors in liquids. The shear 430 MHz BAW are excited in the resonator structure providing high temperature sensitivity and relatively low harmful mechanical sensitivity of sensor on ambient liquid media.

Focusing nondiffracting BAW transducer
IEEE Symposium on Ultrasonics, 2003, 2004We present a detailed scheme for piezoelectric interdigital-type transducer on quartz that would generate a localized nondiffracting beam within the depth of a crystal. The transducer is analogous with optical diffractive elements but the presence of anisotropy and several acoustic modes complicates the design, and numerical modeling is required for ...

BAW microwave temperature sensor
18th European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF 2004), 2004This work is aimed at the study of a potential possibilities of microwave Bulk Acoustic Wave resonators for temperature measurements. The resonators under study had nonstandard high overtone BAW resonator configuration: a thin piezoelectric film ZnO with electrodes was deposited onto the surface of the substrate made of the (100) oriented YAG plate ...
