Development of ZnO Buffer Layers for As‐Doped CdSeTe/CdTe Solar Cells with Efficiency Exceeding 20%

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Highly resistive ZnO has been used as the buffer layer in As‐doped CdSeTe/CdTe solar cells to achieve efficiencies higher than 20%. STEM images and EDX mapping show that the quality of the front interface is dependent on the ZnO deposition temperature. Unusually, chlorine is not observed at the front interface using EDX when the ZnO is deposited at 100

Biomass estimates of Pacific herring, Clupea harengus pallasi, in California from the 1980-81 spawning ground surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The spawning biomass of Pacific herring in San Francisco Bay and Tomales Bay was estimated to be 65,441 tons and 5,583 tons, respectively during the 1980-81 season.

Molecular Nanoarchitectonic Sensing Layer for Analysis of Volatile Fatty Acids in Bioreactor Headspaces Using a Nanomechanical Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A porous crystalline sensing layer has been developed in conjunction with a nanomechanical sensor for the sensitive detection of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) in admixture at high relative humidity. The sensitive, selective sensor based on supramolecular design improves the economic viability of anaerobic digesters toward a carbon neutral society ...

Factors affecting estuarine populations of Nereocystis luetkeana in Kachemak Bay, Alaska [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Thesis (M.S.) University of Alaska Fairbanks, 2003Nereocystis luetkeana forms extensive kelp beds in Kachemak Bay, Alaska. Salinity and turbidity gradients apparently regulate kelp bed distribution throughout this estuary.

High Photoluminescence Quantum Yield and Tunable Luminescence Lifetimes in the Sub‐Second Range of CaS:Eu2+ Phosphors for Tracer Based Sorting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Efficient plastic waste sorting is crucial for circularity. Advanced methods using lanthanide photonic tracers enhance recycling beyond near‐infrared sorting. Europium(II)‐doped phosphors, with high stability and long luminescence decay, improve tracer detection in sorting systems, enabling precise identification of different plastic materials ...

A Paraffin‐Based Photoresin: 3D Printing of Paraffin for Encapsulation‐Free Shape‐Stabilized Paraffin‐Based Phase Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A novel approach for fabricating shape‐stabilized paraffin‐based phase change materials via digital light processing 3D printing is demonstrated. The printed components contain up to 60 wt.% paraffin within elastomeric polymer networks, exhibiting excellent shape stability and stretchability.
