Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

Incidental catch and mortality of striped bass, Morone saxatilis, in the commercial bay shrimp trawl fishery in the San Francisco estuarine complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The commercial bay shrimp fishery was monitored from April 1989 to September 1990 in south San Francisco Bay, and from September 1989 to September 1990 in San Pablo Bay and Carquinez Strait, to estimate incidental catch and mortality of young-of-the ...

Supercritical CO2 extract and essential oil of bay (Laurus nobilis L.) – chemical composition and antibacterial activity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2010
The present study deals with the supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction and hydrodistillation (HD) of dried bay leaves (Laurus nobilis L.). The chemical composition and antibacterial activity of the SC-CO2 extract and essential oil (EO) from ...

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

Preliminary report on the hydrography and oyster growing conditions in Choctawhatchee Bay, July 11-13, 1961 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
The hydrographic conditions in an estuary such as Choctavhatchee Bay, are complex and dynamic. Temperature and salinity measurements taken at any estuarine sampling station are subject to wide fluctuation depending on local tide and weather conditions ...

Tracer dynamics in two-layer density stratified estuarine flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper considers tidal-driven particle motion in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA under fully stratified conditions with riverine inflow. The flow field is modelled by means of the two-layer shallow-water equations solved on an adaptive quadtree grid using a

Reperfusion‐Dependent Outcomes After Endovascular Thrombectomy Stratified by NIHSS‐ASPECTS Clinical‐Core Mismatch

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This analysis evaluates the effect of successful reperfusion on functional outcomes after MT, stratified by admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) as surrogates for clinical‐core mismatch, using multicenter registry data.
