Spin dynamics of electrons and holes in InGaAs/GaAs quantum wells at milliKelvin temperatures

open access: yes, 2010
The carrier spin dynamics in a n-doped (In,Ga)As/GaAs quantum well has been studied by time-resolved Faraday rotation and ellipticity techniques in the temperature range down to 430 milliKelvin.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Research on the Efficient Desilication Process of Low-Grade Bauxite in Guangxi

open access: yesCrystals
With the continuous exploitation of bauxite mineral resources, Guangxi bauxite faces many difficulties in alumina production due to its characteristics of high silicon content, high iron content, and a low Al-Si ratio.

An Assessment of Reuse of Light Ash from Bayer Process Fluidized Bed Boilers in Geopolymer Synthesis at Ambient Temperature

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Sustainable civil construction in the future, besides having low energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, must also adopt the principle of reusing wastes generated in the production chain that impact the environment. The aluminum production chain

Digestion of Alumina from Non-Magnetic Material Obtained from Magnetic Separation of Reduced Iron-Rich Diasporic Bauxite with Sodium Salts

open access: yesMetals, 2016
Recovery of iron from iron-rich diasporic bauxite ore via reductive roasting followed by magnetic separation has been explored recently. However, the efficiency of alumina extraction in the non-magnetic materials is absent. In this paper, a further study

Mind the (approximation) gap: a robustness analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
This note continues the discussion of the results reported by Ricardo Caballero and Eduardo Engel (1993), hereafter CE, and Ricardo Caballero, Eduardo Engel, and John Haltiwanger (1997), hereafter CEH, by responding to the results reported in Christian ...

Silver Ion‐Mediated [hk1]‐Oriented Sb2Se3 Crystal Growth for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ag+‐mediated hydrothermal crystal engineering promotes preferential [hk1]‐oriented growth of Sb2Se3 via an ultrathin MoOx interlayer, improving crystallinity and suppressing non‐radiative recombination. The optimized Ag+ treatment photocathode delivers 24.7 mA cm−2 at 0 VRHE and improved stability, revealing an ion‐modulated route to high‐performance ...

Dual‐Ligand Metal‐Organic Frameworks via In Situ Amidoxime Engineering for Selective Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by microbial ion‐trapping mechanisms, a mild and universal strategy is developed to construct highly porous amidoxime‐functionalized MOFs. DFT calculations and molecular force measurements reveal that the dual‐ligand amidoxime configuration significantly strengthens Ga(III) affinity.

Influence of notillage on carbon sequestration and erosion in Brazil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Les sols constituent le plus gros réservoir superficiel de C (hors les roches carbonatées), environ 1500 Gt C, ce qui équivaut à presque trois fois la quantité stockée dans la biomasse terrestre, et deux fois celle de l'atmosphère.
