Differential expression analysis of multifactor RNA-Seq experiments with respect to biological variation

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2012
A flexible statistical framework is developed for the analysis of read counts from RNA-Seq gene expression studies. It provides the ability to analyse complex experiments involving multiple treatment conditions and blocking variables while still taking ...

On Inconsistent Bayes Estimates of Location

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1986
This paper is related to the authors paper ibid. 14, 1-26 (1986; see the foregoing review, Zbl 0595.62022). In some relatively natural settings, Bayes estimates of location are shown to be inconsistent.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Maximum a posteriori estimates in linear inverse problems with log-concave priors are proper Bayes estimators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A frequent matter of debate in Bayesian inversion is the question of which of the two principal point-estimators, the maximum a posteriori (MAP) or the conditional mean (CM) estimate, is to be preferred.

A Bayes Linear Bayes Method for Estimation of Correlated Event Rates [PDF]

open access: yesRisk Analysis, 2013
Typically, full Bayesian estimation of correlated event rates can be computationally challenging since estimators are intractable. When estimation of event rates represents one activity within a larger modeling process, there is an incentive to develop more efficient inference than provided by a full Bayesian model.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Tempering the Bayes Filter Towards Improved Model-Based Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Control Systems
Model-based filtering is often carried out while subject to an imperfect model, as learning partially-observable stochastic systems remains a challenge.

Statistical inference with joint progressive censoring for two populations using power Rayleigh lifetime distribution

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In this study, point and interval estimations for the power Rayleigh distribution are derived using the joint progressive type-II censoring technique. The maximum likelihood and Bayes methods are used to estimate the two distributional parameters.

False discovery rates: a new deal

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2016
We introduce a new Empirical Bayes approach for large-scale hypothesis testing, including estimating False Discovery Rates (FDRs), and effect sizes. This approach has two key differences from existing approaches to FDR analysis.

On Bayes estimates

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 1973
AbstractIn this paper the author tries to give general conditions for the existence of Bayes estimates and for the consistency of sequences of Bayes estimates. In Section 3 we prove existence theorems for Bayes estimates, which contain those of DeGroot and Rao [3], as a special case.
