Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Empirical Bayes and Full Bayes for Signal Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider signals that follow a parametric distribution where the parameter values are unknown. To estimate such signals from noisy measurements in scalar channels, we study the empirical performance of an empirical Bayes (EB) approach and a full Bayes

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Generalized Bayes Estimation Based on a Joint Type-II Censored Sample from K-Exponential Populations

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Generalized Bayes is a Bayesian study based on a learning rate parameter. This paper considers a generalized Bayes estimation to study the effect of the learning rate parameter on the estimation results based on a joint censored sample of type-II ...

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

ESTIMASI PARAMETER DISTRIBUSI WEIBULL DUA PARAMETER MENGGUNAKAN METODE BAYES

open access: yesMedia Statistika, 2012
Interval estimation of a parameter is one part of statistical inference. One of the methods that used is the Bayes method. A Bayesian method is combine prior distribution and distribution of samples, so that the posterior distribution can be obtained ...

Empirical Bayes posterior concentration in sparse high-dimensional linear models

open access: yes, 2017
We propose a new empirical Bayes approach for inference in the $p \gg n$ normal linear model. The novelty is the use of data in the prior in two ways, for centering and regularization.

Empirical Bayes Derivative Estimates

open access: yesMultivariate Behavioral Research, 2019
A dynamic system is a set of interacting elements characterized by changes occurring over time. The estimation of derivatives is a mainstay for exploring dynamics of constructs, particularly when the dynamics are complicated or unknown. The presence of measurement error in many social science constructs frequently results in poor estimates of ...

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.
