Cutaneous Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma is a Basal Cell Carcinoma In Situ: Electron Microscopy of a Case Series of Basal Cell Carcinomas

open access: yesDermatology and Therapy
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer. Skin cancers may present either as a non-invasive tumor or an invasive malignancy. The terminology of carcinoma in situ is used when the tumor is either just limited to epidermis or not present ...

Entropy‐Driven Design of Stable High‐Performance Sodium‐Ion Battery Cathodes

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
This review explores high‐entropy strategies for advanced sodium‐ion battery cathodes, focusing on LTMOs and PBAs. It details how entropy engineering mitigates challenges: phase transitions, interface degradation, and air instability in LTMOs; vacancy defects and crystalline water in PBAs.

Ordered modulation of electronic structure for efficient alkaline hydrogen oxidation

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
We developed imc‐RuGa/hp‐hCN catalyst using in situ elastic spatial confinement method. This catalyst exhibits superior performance for the alkaline HOR, maintaining stable operation for 600 h at a 0.05 V versus RHE working voltage in 0.1 M KOH. It achieved 13 times greater mass activity than commercial PtRu/C.

A new selective culture medium for isolation of Burkholderia cepacia complex in pharmaceutical industry

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
ObjectivesBurkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) are typical objectionable microorganisms of concern for water-based pharmaceuticals. In order to achieve quick and effective detection of Bcc to prevent final product contamination, a new selective medium ...

Leveraging Atomic Disorder to Modulate Hydrogen Storage Thermodynamics in Intermetallics

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces atomic disorder into TiFe‐based intermetallics through multi‐element substitution to tune hydrogen storage properties. A series of B2‐structured, compositionally complex intermetallics are synthesized and evaluated, revealing that increased atomic disorder enhances hydride stability.

The Black‐Box of ESG Scores From Rating Agencies: Do They Genuinely Reflect Sustainability Practices, or Are They Disproportionately Shaped by Financial Performance?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the environmental, social and governance (ESG) scoring methodologies used by Bloomberg and S&P Global through the lens of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). It addresses a notable gap in the literature by identifying the underlying factors that shape ESG scores and providing practical insights for companies seeking to ...

Adult Advisor Efficacy to Support LGBTQ+ Youth as a Predictor of LGBTQ+ Youth's Experiences in Gender‐Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) and at School

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Many LGBTQ+ youth seek support from adults at school, which can include advisors of Gender‐Sexuality Alliances (GSAs; clubs affirming LGBTQ+ youth). Little research has considered how efficacious advisors feel to support LGBTQ+ GSA members, or how advisors' efficacy contributes to LGBTQ+ youth's school experiences.

Fast Mid‐Infrared Spectral Probe Decisions Match H&E Stain Results for Keratinocytic Carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
A handheld and fast mid‐infrared fiber‐optic spectral probe is touched to tissue recording a mid‐infrared spectrum that can distinguish keratinocytic cancer from normal skin. ABSTRACT We designed a handheld and fast mid‐infrared fiber‐optic spectral probe using a quantum cascade laser (QCL) and a reduced range of wavelengths, to see if keratinocytic ...
