BCC

Proceedings of the VLDB Endowment, 2016
The Optimistic Concurrency Control (OCC) method has been commonly used for in-memory databases to ensure transaction serializability --- a transaction will be aborted if its read set has been changed during execution. This simple criterion to abort transactions causes a large proportion of false positives, leading to excessive transaction aborts ...

Phonons at Martensitic Phase Transitions of bcc-Ti, bcc-Zr and bcc-Hf

MRS Proceedings, 1989
ABSTRACTInelastic neutron scattering on in situ grown bcc single crystals of the group 4 metals Ti, Zr and Hf show a band of low energy and strongly damped phonons. Geometrical considerations show how these damped lattice vibrations achieve the displacements necessary for the two martensitic phase transitions from bcc to ω(under pressure) and from bcc ...

BCC Research

The Charleston Advisor, 2022
BCC Research provides market analysis reports in a variety of industries. While they have some reports in the consumer arena, their strength is in the industrial and manufacturing industries. The reports tend to focus on the industries globally, but they do have country reports (examples include the US and China) and the global reports may also have ...

Phonon dispersion of bcc La

Physical Review B, 1993
The phonon-dispersion curves of the high-temperature bcc phase of La (γ-La) have been measured at 1163 K. A characteristic valley of transverse and low-energy phonons extends along the [ξξO] and [ξξ2ξ] propagation directions. The eigenvectors of these modes are in the direction of the displacements needed for phase transitions to low-temperature close ...

Lattice dynamics of bcc Cs

Physical Review B, 1986
A large single crystal of bcc Sr was grown in situ and was used to study the lattice dynamics of this divalent metal by coherent inelastic neutron scattering. The phonon dispersion curves were measured, at 930 K, along the (xi00), (xixi0), and (xixixi) symmetry directions.

BCCS: The Organization

2015
The Butler Cave Conservation Society (BCCS) was created as a non-profit scientific, education, and conservation organization in November, 1968. In 1970 the BCCS was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose of the organization to own and manage caves as a conservation strategy, initially in Burnsville Cove, but not limited to the Cove ...

Phonons and martensitic phase transitions in pure bcc Ti and bcc Zr

Physical Review B, 1989
Phonons have been measured in \ensuremath{\beta}-Ti and \ensuremath{\beta}-Zr over the whole range of existence of the high-temperature bcc phase. Low-frequency and strongly damped longitudinal phonons at q=(2/3(111) produce the necessary displacements for the martensitic \ensuremath{\beta}-\ensuremath{\omega} transition.

Elastic instability of bcc cobalt

Physical Review B, 1993
General-potential linearized-augmented-plane-wave calculations of the elastic properties of body-centered cubic Co are presented. The bcc structural phase of Co, which is not found in nature, is calculated to be unstable with respect to a volume-conserving tetragonal distortion. The total energy of body-centered tetragonal Co decreases monotonically as

Superconductivity of bcc Barium under Pressure

Physical Review Letters, 1977
The bcc phase of barium is a superconductor. Tc increases steeply with pressure from 0.06 K at 37 kbar to 0.5 K at 48 kbar. A fit of McMillan’s expression for Tc suggests a Tc already in the millikelvin range at 30 kbar. Phonon softening as inferred from the decreasing melting curve is insufficient to account for the rise of Tc with pressure. A He3/He4
