Preventive effect of hesperidin modulates inflammatory responses and antioxidant status following acute myocardial infarction through the expression of PPAR‑γ and Bcl‑2 in model mice.

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2017
Hesperetin is the main pharmacological ingredient of fruit of the citrus family, rutaceae. It is a flavanone, which has potent antioxidation and anti‑inflammatory activities.

Novel ATR/PARP1 Dual Inhibitors Demonstrate Synergistic Antitumor Efficacy in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Novel ATR/PARP1 dual inhibitors are developed for the first time. Advanced lead B8 effectively reduces cell viability in vitro and suppresses tumor growth in vivo, with better potency than ATRi and PARPi alone or in combination. Mechanistically, B8 induces apoptosis, arrests the cell cycle, and inhibits cancer cells colony formation, migration, and ...

Estradiol activates PI3K/Akt/GSK3 pathway under chronic neurodegenerative conditions triggered by perinatal asphyxia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Perinatal asphyxia (PA) remains as one of the most important causes of short-term mortality, psychiatric and neurological disorders in children, without an effective treatment.

Chrysin induces cell apoptosis via activation of the p53/Bcl-2/caspase-9 pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma cells.

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2016
Chrysin is a major active ingredient of flavonoids, known to exhibit protective effects against various types of cancer. However, the anticancer role of chrysin against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear.

Dopamine D1 Receptor Contributes to Glucocorticoid‐Associated Osteonecrosis of Femoral Head Protection Through the ATF3/CHOP Axis to Inhibit Osteoblastic Apoptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work identifies a novel mechanism by which dopamine D1 receptor (DRD1) contributes to the pathogenesis of glucocorticoid (GC)‐associated osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) through the regulation of osteoblastic apoptosis, indicating that DRD1 serves as a critical mediator of the crosstalk between the nervous and skeletal systems.

IL‐31 levels correlate with pruritus in patients with cholestatic and metabolic liver diseases and is farnesoid X receptor responsive in NASH

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
IL‐31 levels correlate with pruritus in patients with cholestatic and metabolic liver diseases Abstract Background and Aims Pruritus is associated with multiple liver diseases, particularly those with cholestasis, but the mechanism remains incompletely understood.

Trifluoperazine induces apoptosis through the upregulation of Bax/Bcl-2 and downregulated phosphorylation of AKT in mesangial cells and improves renal function in lupus nephritis mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2018
The inhibition of mesangial cell (MC) proliferation has become an important therapy in preventing glomerular proliferation diseases. Trifluoperazine (TFP) has been reported to inhibit the proliferation of several types of cancer cell, however, the ...

Targeted Dual‐Responsive Liposomes Co‐Deliver Jolkinolide B and Ce6 to Synergistically Enhance the Photodynamic/Immunotherapy Efficacy in Gastric Cancer through the PANoptosis Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic model of CJP–TiN liposomes for gastric cancer (GC) treatment. Internalizing RGD peptide (iRGD) targets tumor cells, while Chlorin e6 (Ce6) generates reactive oxygen species (ROS). Jolkinolide B (JB) activates the PANoptosis pathway via caspase‐8, enhancing GC cell death and immune response, transforming “cold tumors” into “hot tumors” by ...

Mitochondrial stress in advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis associated with chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Adaptive mitochondrial mechanisms allow mitochondrial resilience and prevent the worsening of fibrosis, while deregulation of these mechanisms promotes the progression from no/minimal‐mild (F0‐F2) fibrosis to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis (F3‐F4). Abstract Background and Aims Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection causes oxidative stress (OS) and alters ...

Inhibition of oncogenic transcription factor REL by the natural product derivative calafianin monomer 101 induces proliferation arrest and apoptosis in human B-lymphoma cell lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Increased activity of transcription factor NF-κB has been implicated in many B-cell lymphomas. We investigated effects of synthetic compound calafianin monomer (CM101) on biochemical and biological properties of NF-κB.
