Fine structure of the female genital apparatus of Philodina (Rotifera, Bdelloidea)
Zoomorphology, 1982The organization of the female genital apparatus of the bdelloid rotifer Philodina roseola was analyzed by light and electron microscopy. It differs from that of the monogononts in several respects: the gonad is paired; in each gonad, the follicular layer completely surrounds the syncytial vitellarium and the cluster of ovocytes; the cytoplasmic ...

Five clonal populations belonging to the parthenognetic species Macrotrachela quadricornifera were analyzed electrophoretically. The populations stemmed from samples collected from different environments paires geographically: water bodies (C,P,F) and terrestrial mosses (M1, M2).

Histochemical investigations of Rotifera Bdelloidea. I. Localization of cholinesterase activity
The Histochemical Journal, 1984Cholinesterase activity has been investigated in Rotifera Bdelloidea (Philodina roseola, Philodina tubercolata, Rotaria rotatoria and other unidentified species) by histochemical methods and in vivo observations. Parallel histological studies have been carried out. The enzyme specificity was tested by employing different substrates and inhibitors.

Icelandic bdelloidea transcriptomic profiling through differential expression analysis
2021With the recent upsurge of Bdelloidea discoveries in permanently cold environments, members of the group represent prime candidates for better understanding adaptations to one of the most pervasive abiotic stressors; cold. Previous studies have highlighted the role of inducing cold stress tolerance through manipulation of the purine and energy ...

Descriptions of three new species of Philodinida (Rotifera, Bdelloidea) from Korea
ZootaxaA taxonomic study on bdelloid rotifers collected from terrestrial habitats such as mosses and leaf litter at two different locations in Korea resulted in three new species, Habrotrocha changhoi n. sp., H. microcornis n. sp. and Philodina undulata n. sp. Habrotrocha changhoi n. sp. is easily distinguished from its congeners by five small dorsal humps on

Two new Bdellidae, Biscirus iranensis Paktinat-Saeej & Bagheri sp. nov. and Bdella farabii Paktinat-Saeej & Bagheri sp. nov., are described from northern Iran. The monotypic genus Neobiscirus considered a junior synonym of Biscirus, and its only species therefore considered Biscirus kobachidzei (Gomelauri, 1963) comb. nov.

Opinion paper: Are lemnisci and proboscis present in the Bdelloidea?
1998Phylum Rotifera is typically defined by the presence of a (a) primary body cavity, (b) specialized ciliary apparatus called the corona located at the anterior end, and (c) jaw apparatus of hard parts (trophi) (e.g., de Beauchamp, 1965). To this list of characters Nielsen (1995) added (d) an intracytoplasmic skeletal lamina, (e) a retrocerebral ...
