TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

A Strategy to Mitigate the Ionospheric Scintillation Effects on BDS Precise Point Positioning: Cycle-Slip Threshold Model

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Because of the special design of BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) constellation, the effects of ionospheric scintillation on operational BDS generally are more serious than on the global positioning system (GPS).

Performance Evaluation of Real-Time Precise Point Positioning with Both BDS-3 and BDS-2 Observations

open access: yesSensors, 2020
For time-critical precise applications, one popular technology is the real-time precise point positioning (PPP). In recent years, there has been a rapid development in the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), and the constellation of global BDS (BDS-

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

MEGALOBLASTIC ANAEMIA PRESENTING AS PYREXIA-AN INTERESTING CASE REPORT

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, 2014
Megaloblastic anemia is a rare cause of pyrexia. We report the case of a patient who presented with fever, anemia and thrombocytopenia. After ruling out infective, inflammatory and endocrine causes and correlating with vitamin B12 and folic acid levels ...

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors use and dental implant failure: A call for awareness and caution

open access: yesJournal of the Pakistan Medical Association
Dear Editor, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the possible negative impact of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) use on dental implants. Globally, depression is on the rise, especially in low-income countries (1). SSRIs are the

First Detection of Millimeter Dust Emission from Brown Dwarf Disks

open access: yes, 2003
We report results from the first deep millimeter continuum survey targeting Brown Dwarfs (BDs). The survey led to the first detection of cold dust in the disks around two young BDs (CFHT-BD-Tau 4 and IC348 613), with deep JCMT and IRAM observations ...

A bilayer Double Semion Model with Symmetry-Enriched Topological Order [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We construct a new model of two-dimensional quantum spin systems that combines intrinsic topo- logical orders and a global symmetry called flavour symmetry.

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

A Subset-Reduced Method for FDE ARAIM of Tightly-Coupled GNSS/INS

open access: yesSensors, 2019
The advanced receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (advanced RAIM, ARAIM) is the next generation of RAIM which is widely used in civil aviation. However, the current ARAIM needs to evaluate hundreds of subsets, which results in huge computational ...
