A discontinuity in the low-mass IMF - the case of high multiplicity [PDF]
The empirical binary properties of brown dwarfs (BDs) differ from those of normal stars suggesting BDs form a separate population. Recent work by Thies & Kroupa revealed a discontinuity of the initial mass function (IMF) in the very-low-mass star regime under the assumption of a low multiplicity of BDs of about 15 per cent.

On the universal outcome of star-formation: Is there a link between stars and brown-dwarfs? [PDF]
(abridged) The recent evidence obtained by Briceno et al. that star-formation in Taurus-Auriga (TA) may be producing significantly fewer brown dwarfs (BDs) per star than the ONC is investigated by setting up a realistic model stellar plus BD population and explicitly taking into account a high binary proportion and dynamical evolution in the TA groups ...

On the origin of brown dwarfs and free-floating planetary mass objects [PDF]
(abridged) Sub-stellar mass objects have fundamentally different binary properties than stars implying that they cannot have the same formation history. They are rather unfinished stars having either been ejected by their siblings from compact groups of accreting hydrostatic cores, or having lost their accretion envelopes through photo-evaporation by ...

A discontinuity in the low-mass initial mass function [PDF]
The origin of brown dwarfs (BDs) is still an unsolved mystery. While the standard model describes the formation of BDs and stars in a similar way recent data on the multiplicity properties of stars and BDs show them to have different binary distribution functions.

BD algebras and group cohomology [PDF]
BD algebras (Beilinson-Drinfeld algebras) are algebraic structures which are defined similarly to BV algebras (Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras). The equation defining the BD operator has the same structure as the equation for BV algebras, but the BD operator is increasing with degree +1. We obtain methods of constructing BD algebras in the context of group

Comparison of Satellite Repeat Shift Time for GPS, BDS, and Galileo Navigation Systems by Three Methods [PDF]
The characteristic of the satellite repeat shift time can reflect the status of the satellite operation, and is also one of the key factors of the sidereal filtering multipath correction.

Implication and utility of DAS-28 squeeze in rheumatoid arthritis: an Indian experience
The purpose of this study was to compare and correlate disease activity score including 28 joints counts (DAS-28) Squeeze with DAS-28 and clinical disease activity index (CDAI) to assess disease activity (DA) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.

In this paper, we introduce the class of (BD) operators acting on a complex Hilbert space H. An operator if T ∈ B (H) is said to belong to class (BD) if T * 2 (TD) 2 commutes with (T *TD) 2 equivalently [T * 2 (TD) 2, (T *TD) 2] = 0. We investigate the properties of this class and we also analyze the relation of this class to D-operator and then ...
