Nanoporous Silica Embedded in Nanoporous Platinum: A Versatile Composite Coating for Implant‐Associated Drug Delivery From Neuronal Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Nanoporous silica nanoparticles incorporated in nanoporous platinum offer the possibility for implant‐associated drug delivery from neuronal electrodes. ABSTRACT Sensorineural hearing loss, resulting from damage to the hair cells of the inner ear, profoundly impairs quality of life.

3D‐Printed Dual‐Doped Ag2Se‐Based Thermoelectric Films With Enhanced Thermal Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Sb–Se dual doping enhances the thermal stability of Ag2Se‐based thermoelectric systems. The compositionally tuned nano‐ink is printed into flexible films by direct ink writing (DIW), retaining improved thermoelectric properties after annealing up to 400°C.

Beach Wrack Dynamics Using a Camera Trap as the Real-Time Monitoring Tool

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
As part of Blue Carbon ecosystems (BCEs), detached macrophytes can be transported to the coast due to current and wave actions, and then deposited on the shore as beach wrack.

Beach macro-litter monitoring on southern Baltic beaches: results, experiences and recommendations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Coastal Conservation, 2017
Major objectives were to provide a comprehensive dataset on beach macro-litter for parts of the southern Baltic Sea and to analyse if the methodology is fully applicable and a suitable monitoring method in the Baltic. We carried out a regular macro litter beach monitoring (OSPAR methodology, 4 time a year) on 35 beaches along the German and Lithuanian ...

WorMa: An Undulatory Robot With Center of Mass Regulation via Internal Fluid Redistribution for Amphibious Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
WorMa is an amphibious undulatory robot that uses Center of Mass redistribution as the sole terrain adaptation mechanism. This mechanism is based on internal fluid mass redistribution through a pump‐driven latex balloon system that creates three profiles: head‐biased, balanced, and tail‐biased.

Reconfiguring Fresh Produce Supply Chains in Response to Drought Risk: Evidence From the U.S. Broccoli Market

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Drought is among the most severe and persistent threats to food supply chains, and relocating production to less drought‐prone regions offers a strategy to reduce this risk. This is particularly relevant for fresh vegetables, which are highly water‐intensive, yet drought‐driven reconfiguration strategies remain understudied.
