A beak key for eight eastern tropical Pacific caphalopod species with relationships between their beak dimensions and size [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A method of identifying the beaks and estimating body weight and mantle length of eight common species of eastern tropical Pacific cephalopods is presented.

BOULE is Essential for the Dynamic Disassembly of Heat Shock Granules in Male Germ Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BOULE orchestrates stress granule disassembly in germ cells via a two‐pronged mechanism: it promotes G3BP1 ubiquitination by upregulating TRIM27, generating a signal for VCP/FAF2 recruitment, and it maintains G3BP1 and FAF2 protein levels. BOULE deficiency disrupts disassembly complex formation, leading to impaired heat shock granule clearance ...

Morphometric sex determination in the endemic Yucatan Wren ( Campylorhynchus yucatanicus )

open access: yesJournal of Field Ornithology
Sex determination in birds is vital for evolutionary biology and conservation efforts. However, sexing cryptic species can be challenging, especially outside the breeding season because of reduced dimorphic traits.

Investigations of the Evolved Molecular Basis for Terpenoid Biosynthesis in Marine Sponges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Confirming and extending a previous observation in another Bubarida sponge, genomic and functional analyses of A. cavernosa reveal that sponges retain the mevalonate pathway and employ single α‐domain T1TSs and UbiA‐type TSs for terpenoid biosynthesis. The absence of T1TSs clustering with other biosynthetic genes tentatively suggests, based on limited ...

Selective Modulation of OTUB1 Noncanonical Function via a bioPhosTAC Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work positions the versatile performance of the peptide‐based bioPhosTAC platform for dissecting phosphorylation‐dependent biology and expanding the scope of induced‐proximity technologies. We demonstrated that selective manipulation of a tyrosine phosphorylation site is sufficient to propagate coordinated cellular consequences.

Effect of intestinal microbiota on duck short-beak and dwarf syndrome caused by novel goose parvovirus

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Short-beak and dwarf syndrome (SBDS) is caused by infection with novel goose parvovirus (NGPV), which leads to intestinal dysbiosis, developmental delay, short beak, lameness, and paralysis in ducks and is the cause of skeletal health problems.

Uncoupling Type I Interferon Benefits From Inflammatory Toxicity: Transformer‐Prioritized Precision Agonists for Potent and Safer Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Transformer‐based AI framework, DLINP, screens millions of compounds to identify Co68, a cobalt‐pincer organometallic complex that biases TLR4‐MD2 signaling toward antitumor interferon activation while suppressing inflammatory toxicity through an early TLR4‐SYK‐STAT1 axis.

Compact 9dBEs Enable Efficient and Precise Genome Editing in Mammalian Cells and In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a compact type II‐D system, the Cas9d‐based platform holds great potential for in vivo applications. Through rational engineering, its derived base editors (9dBEs) enable efficient disease modeling while facilitating single‐vector AAV delivery for in vivo genome editing. These miniature tools offer a robust strategy for basic research and biomedical

Corynoxine Inhibits Tumor Growth via Targeting NQO1 and Modulating the PTPA–NQO1/PP2A Switch to Activate PP2A

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Corynoxine exerts potent broad‐spectrum anticancer activity by directly targeting NQO1. This interaction dissociates the oncogenic NQO1‐PTPA complex, releasing PTPA to robustly activate the tumor suppressor PP2A. Consequently, downstream Raf/MEK/ERK and PI3K/AKT signaling pathways are suppressed, downregulating c‐Myc and driving tumor regression ...
