ABSTRACT Progressive pseudorheumatoid arthropathy of childhood (PPAC) is a rare autosomal recessive progressive condition that affects the cartilage of joints and bones. The symptoms of PPAC include stiffness of the joints, bony swelling of the toes and fingers, short stature, kyphosis, and muscle weakness.

Prophage Activation Triggers Extracellular Synthesis of DNA in Bacterial Biofilms via Rolling Circle Replication

Shewanella oneidensis and Bacillus subtilis, both harboring prophages, reveal a novel biosynthetic route to scalable and programmable DNA superstructures in flower‐ and wire‐like shapes, respectively. Activation of prophages is achieved via 3‐hour starvation and monitored using reporter strains.

A Conserved Isoleucine Gates the Diffusion of CO and O2 to the Active Site of NiFe CO‐Dehydrogenase

A combination of protein film electrochemistry and site‐directed mutagenesis shows that isoleucine 563 (numbering of Thermococcus sp. AM4) gates the arrival of both CO and O2 to the active site of the nickel‐iron CO dehydrogenases. Mutations at this position increase the resistance to O2 at the cost of a slower reaction with CO.

Establishing Sensory Neurons as Therapeutic Targets in Peripheral Neuropathy Driven by Polyglutamine Expanded Murine ATXN3

Repeat expansion disorders frequently involve peripheral neuropathy, yet mechanisms remain unclear. Using a spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) Knock‐In Atxn3Q300/Q6, we identify progressive sensorimotor deficits, peripheral nerve pathology, and dorsal root ganglia RNA splicing dysregulation.
