Bunch-length effects in the beam-beam interaction

Physical Review D, 1990
The Hamiltonian analysis of the beam-beam interaction is extended, for round beams, by including its finite longitudinal extent. For small synchrotron amplitudes resonance strengths are derived that are smaller than those obtained in the impulse approximation. This is a consequence of averaging over the betatron phase during the collision.

Beam-beam interaction: Experimental

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1990
Performance limitations of electron‐positron circular colliders are reviewed with emphasis on examining beam‐beam limits through experimental data collected from operating storage rings. Particular emphasis has been put on reviewing scaling laws for the beam‐beam parameter, or ‘‘tune‐shift.’’Observational data on colliders with asymmetric energy are ...

Beam-energy inequality in the beam-beam interaction

Physical Review D, 1990
Conditions for energy transparency,'' unequal-energy beams having the same beam-beam behavior, are derived for round beams from a Hamiltonian model of the beam-beam interaction. These conditions are equal fractional betatron tunes, equal synchrotron tunes, equal beam-beam strength parameters, equal nominal sizes, equal {beta}{sup *}'s and equal bunch ...
