Fatigue characterization of a beam-to-column riveted joint

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2019
Abstract Fatigue failures are a concern for old riveted steel bridges since most of them were not originally designed taking into account fatigue. The usual fatigue assessment approach for riveted joints consists of using the fatigue class 71 S-N curve proposed in Eurocode 3, part 1–9.

Finite element modelling of RC beam-to-column joint

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2022
In this paper, a Finite Element Model (FEM) of Reinforced Concrete (RC) beam-to-column joint is investigated. The validation of the FE model is base to the experimental results, which are part of an experimental campaign lead up at the University of Salerno. The FEM study is developed and analyzed using Abaqus software.

Cyclic Behaviour of End-Plate Beam-To-Column Composite Joints

Steel and Composite Structures, 2000
The behaviour of joints under cyclic loading, when compared to the corresponding static monotonic response, presents the added difficulty of degradation of strength and stiffness in successive loading cycles. Composite joints in seismic regions must provide adequate performance under load reversal, with good energy dissipation.

On the Stiffening the Shear Panels of Beam-to-Column Joints

2013
In case of steel beam-to-column joints the bending resistance is significantly influenced by the shear strength of the web panel. The compression side resistance of the joint is limited by the web panel in shear component and in case of special geometries it can give a relatively strong limitation for the bending resistance of the whole joint.

Moment resistance statistical distribution of beam-to-column composite joints

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2012
Abstract In seismic design of steel–concrete composite moment resisting frames, the randomness of beam-to-column joint rotational response can affect the location of dissipative zones. In fact, in case of full-strength joints, the dissipation of the earthquake input energy occurs at the beam ends; conversely, in case of partial-strength joints, the ...

Beam-to-column joint modelling to EC3

Annual ... of the Croatian Academy of Engineering, 2012
The modelling of beam to column joints is analyzed taking into account real behaviour of such joints as described by the Mj-φ curve. General considerations relating to the new joint design philosophy, as based on Eurocode 3, are given in the initial part of the paper.

Studying on cracking of reinforced-concrete beam and column joints

2012 2nd International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks (CECNet), 2012
The work is concerned with an analytical investigation of the behavior of reinforced-concrete beam — column joint subassemblages under monotonic and cyclic loading in an attempt to assess the effect of cracking suffered by the joint on the overall structural response.

Reliability assessment of flange cleat beam-to-column joints

ce/papers, 2017
This paper deals with the reliability assessment of the flange cleat beam-to-column steel joints. Based on the set of tests of flange cleat beam-to-column joints the experimental bending resistance and stiffness has been obtained. Theoretical bending resistance and stiffness have been evaluated using existing and proposed (modified) mechanical models ...

Mechanical modeling of the nonlinear response of beam-to-column joints

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2009
Abstract A methodology for the estimation of the complete moment–rotation curve of structural beam-to-column joints is presented in this paper. The methodology is based on the component method and is materialized through appropriate mechanical models that are analyzed nonlinearly.
