Laser beam oscillating welding of 5A06 aluminum alloys: Microstructure, porosity and mechanical properties

Optics and Laser Technology, 2019
Three types of laser beam oscillating welding were applied on 5A06 aluminum alloy sheets. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints were characterized.

Beam-beam Effect on the BTF in Bunched Beams

2014
We present studies on the transverse baseband Beam Transfer Functions (BTFs) in bunched beams at high energies. The goal of the work is to evaluate whether transverse BTFs can be used to diagnose the tune spread arising from transverse nonlinearities such as the beam-beam effect and space charge.

Beam-Beam Instability in Case of Strong-Weak Beam-Beam Interactions

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
Beam‐beam effects in HERA were studied with a self‐consistent beam‐beam simulation by using the particle‐in‐cell method. A remarkable agreement between the experimental measurement and the simulation result was observed on the emittance growth, luminosity reduction, and coherent beam‐beam tune shifts.

Beam–Beam Effects

2014
Beam–beam effects became a subject of study as soon as there were colliders beginning with the first e+e− collider AdA in Frascati that started operating in 1962 and the first p–p collider ISR at CERN that started operating in 1971. Over the years many different issues related to electromagnetic interactions of colliding beams have emerged.

Ion-beam sculpting at nanometre length scales

Nature, 2001
Manipulating matter at the nanometre scale is important for many electronic, chemical and biological advances, but present solid-state fabrication methods do not reproducibly achieve dimensional control at the nanometre scale.

Importance of beam-beam tune spread to collective beam-beam instability in hadron colliders

Physical Review E, 2004
In hadron colliders, electron-beam compensation of beam-beam tune spread has been explored for a reduction of beam-beam effects. In this paper, effects of the tune-spread compensation on beam-beam instabilities were studied with a self-consistent beam-beam simulation in model lattices of Tevatron and Large Hodron Collider.

Beam-beam simulation with non-Gaussian beams

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1990
A new method of calculating the beam‐beam force for High Energy Colliding Beam Machines is given and the method does not assume that the particle distribution is gaussian. With the method, the coherent beam‐beam tune shift as a function of beam current is reproduced for the horizontal case. (AIP)

Beam-beam instability

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1985
The subject of beam-beam instability has been studied since the invention of the colliding beam storage rings. Today, with several colliding beam storage rings in operation, it is not yet fully understood and remains an outstanding problem for the storage ring designers.

Beam-based beam-beam benchmarking and correction

Optics studies in the LHC are generally performed on low-intensity, non-colliding beams. Understanding the optics perturbation from beam-beam effects however, is of significant interest. This was particularly true for the LHC in 2024, where the 3Qy resonance driven by the long-range beam-beam (LRBB) contributed to breaking of the collimator hierarchy ...
