Azimuthal multiple-beam interference effects with combinations of vortex beams

Optics Letters, 2015
We create a series of vortex beams consisting of positive and negative topological charges and develop a geometry where they interfere creating azimuthal multiple-beam interference effects. Usually the combination of two beams with opposite charges creates an azimuthal two-beam interference effect where the intensity varies sinusoidally with azimuthal ...

Theoretical research of beam combination between hollow beam and Gaussian beam

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
The near and far field intensity distribution as well as the beam quality of the combination between the hollow beam generated by double axicons and the Gaussian beam were simulated in this paper. The simulation results revealed that several parameters like the interval between two axicons and the phase difference between the two beams would influence ...

Combining beams from separated telescopes

Applied Optics, 1986
In the present paper, work is discussed which arose in the context of optical design studies for the proposed space-based COSMIC (Coherent Optical System of Modular Interferometric Collectors) telescope. The operation of COSMIC involves the combination of a number of parallel beams with a central beam-combining telescope which forms an image of the sky.

Degenerate transient beam combination

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
Recently, energy transfer has been observed between two pulsed, degenerate laser beams copropagating almost collinearly into isotropic Kerr media with temporal relaxation. Theoretical calculations have been made which agree with the experimental data.

Combined cone-beam and parallel-beam approach to SPECT

2002 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2004
Each detector on a multi-headed gamma camera can be equipped with parallel-beam (PBC) or cone-beam collimators (CBC). While PBC can provide truncation-free SPECT projection sets, CBC offers increased sensitivity in a limited field-of-view (FOV).

Dynamic beam shaping with coherent beam combining

PhotonicsViews
AbstractCoherent beam combining (CBC) is a method of enhancing laser power. It has recently transitioned to industrial applications, unveiling new possibilities in laser technology. CBC merges multiple laser channels from a single source, controlling their phase to create constructive or destructive interference.

Beam combination: all with all

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
ABSTRACT One of the concepts of radio interferometr y which is very difficult to apply to the visible domain is phase closure. The main difficulty is the spatial requirement, namely that all pencil beams will interfere with all other beams on a flat detector. We use a pair-wise combination method using anamorphic stretching of the beams.

Laser Beam Combining Technology

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
Single laser elements will always have an upper limit of power. Progress in technology continuously demands higher power. This could be satisfied by developing a parallel but generic technology of laser beam combiner. Current state of technology is summarized from this "generic" point of view, categorizing the specific approaches that exploit the ...

Multiple Anamorphic Beam Combination

2007
We suggest a new approach to the problem of simultaneous combination of many beams in an optical or infra-red stellar pupil-plane interferometer. All the beams are combined with all other beams. First all beams are stretched anamorphically to create a comb of light, then this comb is interfered with itself rotated at right angle.
