129I and 236U distribution in the subpolar North Atlantic unravels water mass provenance in AR7W and A25 lines

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The subpolar North Atlantic (SPNA) is crucial in the global ocean circulation system and one of the few regions where deep convection occurs. The intermediate and deep waters formed in the SPNA have long been investigated, yet their sources and pathways ...

Measured gas desorption and electron cloud effects with an intense ion beam in a solenoid lattice

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2008
Electron cloud and gas measurements were conducted in a solenoid lattice with a 10  μs, singly charged K^{+} ion bunch at an ion energy of 0.3 MeV and currents of 26 and 45 mA.

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Dual Data Streaming on Tropospheric Communication Links Based on the Determination of Beam Pointing Dynamics Using a Modified Ray-Based Channel Model

open access: yesTelecom
Tropospheric systems are widely used by military forces as they provide long-distance, real-time communication. Slow-fading propagation loss reduces link availability and limits its data-carrying capacity.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Calibration of the nonlinear ring model at the Diamond Light Source

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
Nonlinear beam dynamics plays a crucial role in defining the performance of a storage ring. The beam lifetime, the injection efficiency, and the dynamic and momentum apertures available to the beam are optimized during the design phase by a proper ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

RF system models for the CERN Large Hadron Collider with application to longitudinal dynamics

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2010
The Large Hadron Collider rf station-beam interaction strongly influences the longitudinal beam dynamics, both single-bunch and collective effects. Nonlinearities and noise generated within the radio frequency (rf) accelerating system interact with the ...
