Electron beam dynamics in 4GLS [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE Particle Accelerator Conference (PAC), 2007
Studies of the electron beam dynamics for the 4GLS design are presented. 4GLS will provide three different electron bunch trains to a variety of user synchrotron sources. The 1 kHz XUV-FEL and 100 mA High Average Current branches share a common 540 MeV linac, whilst the 13 MHz IR-FEL must be well-synchronised to them.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Chromatic transverse dynamics in a nonlinear plasma accelerator

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We present a theoretical investigation of the chromatic dynamics of the witness beam within a plasma based accelerator. Our approach allows us to include the impact the longitudinal dynamics have on the transverse dynamics.

Beam Dynamics Studies and Design Optimisation of New Low Energy Antiproton Facilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Antiprotons, stored and cooled at low energies in a storage ring or at rest in traps, are highly desirable for the investigation of a large number of basic questions on fundamental interactions.

DECAY DYNAMICS IN MOLECULAR BEAMS [PDF]

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, 2020
The phenomenon of power law decays in molecular beams is reviewed. The transition from a canonical to a microcanonical description of the decay is analyzed, and the appearance of the power law decay derived. Deviations from a power law often contain information on parallel competing processes.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Ray splitting in paraxial optical cavities

open access: yes, 2003
We present a numerical investigation of the ray dynamics in a paraxial optical cavity when a ray splitting mechanism is present. The cavity is a conventional two-mirror stable resonator and the ray splitting is achieved by inserting an optical beam ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Beam Dynamics Simulation for the CTF3 Drive-Beam Accelerator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A new CLIC Test Facility (CTF3) at CERN will serve to study the drive beam generation for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). CTF3 has to accelerate a 3.5 A electron beam in almost fully-loaded structures.
