Low‐Complexity Hybrid Beamforming for LEO Satellites: Beam Update Rate Analysis and Advanced Adaptive Precoding

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations offer unprecedented opportunities for global broadband connectivity but pose significant beamforming challenges due to rapid platform motion and stringent onboard hardware constraints. Fully digital architectures, while optimal in theory, remain impractical for satellite payloads, motivating ...

Dynamic Cell Division for Interference Management in Satellite Direct‐to‐Cell Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Direct‐to‐cell (D2C) connectivity enables future non‐terrestrial networks to provide service directly to standard terrestrial user equipment (UE) when terrestrial networks (TN) are unavailable. In this work, the satellite system is considered as a secondary network that supplements existing TN coverage while minimizing interference to the ...

SMTC Configuration and Window Adjustment Strategies for Beam Hopping in NR‐NTN

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Beam hopping is an effective transmission strategy for nonterrestrial networks (NTNs), enabling satellites to allocate limited power and spectrum resources across different geographical regions over time. However, in NR‐based NTN systems, beam hopping complicates synchronization monitoring because synchronization signal block (SSB) arrivals ...

Living Through a Changing Climate: Stress, Trauma, and Gendered Resilience Among Women in Coastal and Northern Ghana

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change is reshaping everyday life in Ghana through coastal erosion, flooding, erratic rainfall, water scarcity, extreme heat, and agricultural insecurity. This study examines how these changes produce stress, trauma, and gendered resilience among women in Salakope and Choggu Yapalsi, two climate‐vulnerable communities in coastal and ...

Cultivating and embracing plurality in abductive inquiries within strategy research

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Abduction offers a mode of scientific inquiry that focuses on formulating explanations for unexplained phenomena. By building a bridge between philosophy of science and strategic management research, this article offers a pluralistic view of abduction, highlighting abductive triggers as the starting point in seeking ...

Liquid‐Processed 2D Aromatic Amorphous Carbon: Defect Engineering and Universal Transport Scaling

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Liquid‐processed graphene oxide (GO) thin films undergo a controllable crystalline–to–amorphous transition driven by thermal quenching. By kinetically tuning oxygen‐driven defect formation during reduction, scalable 2D aromatic amorphous carbon phases are stabilized, directly linking nanoscale disorder and defect topology to electronic transport ...

Interplay Between Oxidation State, Intervalence Charge Transfer Transitions and Electronic Conductivity in a Series of Ru‐Based Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Ru‐based square‐grid metal–organic frameworks undergo dramatic conductivity enhancements after chemical oxidation. The mixed‐valent states exhibit the highest conductivity values, which correlate with the appearance of intervalence charge transfer bands.

Mixed‐Dimensional Epitaxy of Aligned 1D vdW Nanowires on Low‐Symmetry 2D vdW Materials: Sb2X3 on ReX2 (X = S, Se)

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Highly aligned mixed‐dimensional vdW heterostructures are achieved through vdW epitaxy of 1D Sb2X3 (X = S, Se) nanowires on low‐symmetry 2D substrates (e.g. ReX2). Reduced substrate symmetry enables aligned nanowire growth and well‐defined vdW interfaces. Atomic‐scale characterization reveals specific epitaxial relationships and stacking‐fault defects.

Multi‐State Resistance in Microtubule‐Templated Gold Nanowires

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The scaling limits of CMOS transistors require alternative, dynamically reconfigurable nanoscale devices. This study demonstrates the multi‐state resistance in pure gold nanowires templated by microtubules. Continuous nanowires with local inhomogeneities enable electromigration‐driven, multistate resistance modulation under voltage pulses, while ...
