Programming balanced optical beam splitters in white paint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wavefront shaping allows for ultimate control of light propagation in multiple-scattering media by adaptive manipulation of incident waves. We shine two separate wavefront-shaped beams on a layer of dry white paint to create two enhanced output speckle ...

Productivity‐Driven Optimization of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Parameters for IN718 Superalloy: Process Control, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Partial Bell-State Analysis with Parametric down Conversion in the Wigner Function Formalism

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2010
We apply the Wigner function formalism to partial Bell-state analysis using polarization entanglement produced in parametric down conversion. Two-photon statistics at a beam-splitter are reproduced by a wave-like description with zeropoint fluctuations ...

Non-Linear Beam Splitter in Bose-Einstein Condensate Interferometers

open access: yes, 2006
A beam splitter is an important component of an atomic/optical Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Here we study a Bose Einstein Condensate beam splitter, realized with a double well potential of tunable height.

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Research on the partial detection of entangled microwave signals with beam splitter model

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Entangled microwave signal is a new quantum information resource generated in recent years. We present that entangled microwave signals can be used as the medium to realize quantum information transmission.

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Passive Environment-Assisted Quantum Communication with GKP States

open access: yesPhysical Review X
Bosonic pure-loss channel, which represents the process of photons decaying into a vacuum environment, has zero quantum capacity when the channel’s transmissivity is less than 50%.
