Combining the independent pixel and point-spread function approaches to simulate the actinic radiation field in moderately inhomogeneous 3D cloudy media

open access: yes, 2008
Field observations and three-dimensional (3D) radiative transfer (RT) simulations of the actinic flux density show strongly pronounced local variations in the presence of inhomogeneous cloud fields which depend on the spatial distribution of the clouds ...

Ion-Beam Mixing in Amorphous and Crystalline Fe-Ti

open access: yes, 1988
Crystalline Fe and Fe-10at.%Ti and amorphous Fe-37at.%Ti films with Ag and Hf markers were produced by vapor deposition. Marker spreading during ion-beam mixing between 77 K and 580 K was measured using Rutherford Back-scattering (RBS).

In Situ Crystalline‐Amorphous Composite Oxide Structure Suppressing Thermal Wear Instability for Refractory Multi‐Principal Element Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An effective strategy is developed to overcome the medium temperatures wear resistance degradation in refractory multi‐principal element alloys. By utilizing chemical short‐range ordering to trigger oxygen‐induced amorphization, a composite oxide structure is formed, which combines high hardness with robust stiffness.

Study of the effect of beam spreading on systematic Doppler flowmeasurement errors

open access: yes, 2010
Doppler ultrasonic flowmeters are based on a single ray approximation. Wehave studied the effect of beam spreading on the systematic Doppler flowmeasurement by developing a theoretical ray tracing model and validating thesame with experiments. This paper

Spectroscopic Investigation of Polysulfide Redox Evolution in Catholyte Solutions for Potassium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Potassium–sulfur batteries are investigated using UV–vis spectroscopy to track the evolution of potassium polysulfide species at elevated temperature. The study reveals sulfur radical anions as key intermediates and shows how solvent composition and cell design influence polysulfide stability, redox behavior, and cycling performance, providing insights
